What an incompetent, greedy guy

Wasn’t this technique in Prime Originator? Could be wrong since it’s been a long time since I read it, but if it’s not the same there was atleast an extremely similar one. I think it was one of the 5 techniques the mc used for body refining, wonder if Vaan will find the others too loL

Not to mention he’s already the size of an adult while being the same age as them

I feel like a salandit egg was a super risky present for his parents to give. I feel like they kinda carelessly gave it to him just because it’s rare, but there’s almost a 90% chance for it to end up male and thus unevolvable (unless they didn’t know that info since it’s rare). Also they know their son can sense potential so I feel like it would make more sense to sell the salandit egg for a sizeable chunk and then bring him to a pokemon seller to pick out some eggs/young ones if they really want to give him a gift. Also i feel in general it wouldn’t be a good idea to gift pokemon without their potential tested/eggs you don’t know the parents’ talent of especially to people you’re really close to & strong/talented trainers who only have talented pokemon. Imagine you’re a pokemon master and your grandma gives you a mystery pokemon egg she found because she felt it had a rare design on it. It hatches but turns out to be a never-before-seen *light red* talent DUNSPARCE. But you would still have to try to train the dunsparce into something useful to show your grandma you’re thankful and prove that she gave you a gem so she doesn’t feel bad. Anyways, love the story so far, but i just really felt the need to rant because I felt his parents were being illogical/careless for being the successful trainers/parents they are (but maybe the father’s incredible luck has gotten to his head and felt it would be the same this time too?). It might also be because the author wants to show off a unique male salandit evolution (which I’m all for) or something else, I just feel the acquisition could’ve been done without his parents’ ignorant generosity~ as a conduit. It’s one thing to give the egg of two growlithes/arcanines that you know have decent potential and another to give a random, probably unevolvable, probably not very talented (as the majority of pokemon have been shown to be) salandit egg, especially when they’ve probably come to terms with all of his pokemon being highly talented. Again, no hate, love the story (especially the worldbuilding). Just felt his parents’ brains went really dull when they decided to give him this gift. If it was given to anyone else besides mc/forever rookie trainers then it would mostly be an untalented burden they were forced to raise. MC because he’s the MC + has methods to raise salandit up/probably find a way for male salandit to evolve in the future (which his parent shouldn’t know/expect) and forever rookie trainers because they don’t have to worry about it not being able to evolve or growing to their talent cap
