Make a milestone and achievement system. Milestone example: run 10 miles (+1% run speed) Next milestones 100 miles, 1,000 etc. Achievement example: Kill firefly (+20% fire dmg dealt) Essentially the MC becomes more powerful the more achievements and milestones he collects.
