Literally dude, some of the most plot armor writing ever. Don’t get me wrong I love GRRM’s works but I feel like I’m certain areas he was really lacking, specifically when it came to the non human and magical aspects like you mentioned. There is just so many ways things could have been done differently to make the story flow better. Rhaenyes and Meraxes death (just to make an example of that specific one) was absolutely just tragedy for tragedy sake, and the fact that the entire land of Dorne wasn’t burnt to the ground when Aegon and Visenya would have had the man power, the ships, the approval of the broadening nations who would have been fine with seeing Dorne gone because of generational strife between them, and two large, powerful, and battleharden dragons is absolutely ridiculous. Rhaenyes and Meraxes death was dumb enough but Dorne against literally the entire world (hundreds of thousands of soldiers) and not going extinct without the water wizards of their ancestors is absolutely stupid writing.

Them being able to kill Meraxes with one shot is still the most plot armour thing ever man, I swear
