You've to after all, take into consideration the mindsets of the character's while writing about them. Since Klein is all about max preparations, then it's very reasonable for him to replicate all kinds of abilities and stuff while fighting. This was essentially, a fight for Klein to fish out some information from the Subsidiary Gods duo, specifically how the "blessings" or boons work. After all, boons weren't really prevalent in book 2. This was also a good way to show just how insane making a fight with a Planeswalker, among other things.
