gojo?
hahaha saying that the mc treating HIS WIFE well makes him a simp is the most incel shit I've heard in a minute, you are so unserious 😭
we are so back, time to slay some demons and corpses
"I won't respond to anything you said, but my point is still valid!!" ok buddy. Judging by your profiles comment history you do this a lot. I'll just say its genuinely cringe/some incel shit to leave honestly undeserved 1 star reviews for every novel where the MC interacts with a woman, calling them a simp lol
It's not about them growing up and coming for him, it's about them coming for his family members and loved ones. He can't sit around and protect them 24/7. He often has to leave Hongyu for months or years to do other things with his cultivation, and while he's gone, who knows what could happen? I mean, there's literally an assassin agency/sect in the city his wife lives in lol. One of the He family descendants could just hire an assassin to kill his family if he left them alive, etc. Leaving them alive would genuinely be the dumbest thing to do. If this is some sort of big moral concern for you, perhaps xianxia novels won't be your thing, because I've seen much worse reading novels like Reverend Insanity/Beyond the Timescape. Also, calling the MC a simp for having a wife and wanting to help her is actually wild, and you're either 13 or have never felt the touch of a woman.
This is the most braindead criticism lol. I'm assuming you're talking about the He family. The family attempts to kill him on multiple occasions unprovoked, including the final instance where they worked with the Mysterious Mechanism Pavilion. He then goes to eliminate the family since they clearly are a threat to him and the Yu family. When he destroys the family, he does the smart thing, and eliminates the roots completely. Sparing members of the He family would be extremely silly, as they would obviously harbor extreme hatred towards him, and could potentially harm his loved ones later down the line. I'm not sure what you would've expected here? Sparing them makes no sense, especially considering his character, which at this point is cautious, and ruthless towards enemies or potential threats.
Fair enough honestly. When I started reading this novel a few months ago I actually almost dropped it at around chapter 50. It's not bad but I think it can be a bit boring at times initially. I would say it really got interesting later for me, when he reaches the 5 viscera realm. I think from that point it transitions from just being in the city he starts in with limited powers/sects/families, and the world begins to unfold really nicely. As he progresses from there, we start to really see the scope of the world building and power system, and the novel kinda clicked with me from there. I would say if you haven't read past chapter 100, at least try to, but then again I can't reasonably expect someone to read that many chapters while not enjoying the novel, so to each their own. I honestly find a lack of novels similar to the ones you said, but I will say a few that I've noticed on wuxiaworld and other sites. "Yuan's ascension" I ended up dropping this novel but it's very similar, low-key mc, intelligent, cool power system and world, fairly well written. The mc is a bit too cautious for my taste so it's a little boring, but it's not bad. There's also "a record of a mortals journey to immortality", but I find the writing quality quite bad in that one, and a new novel i saw on wuxiaworld called "Gateway to Immortality". It's not bad, but not amazing either, but all of those novels are pretty similar in terms of MC's to what you said.
Its not really a harem. The MC is probably my favorite MC of all time, it's not like a lot of xianxia novels where the mc goes around from 1 celestial maiden to another. Definitely not a "simp", he's pretty stoic and cautious, ruthless towards enemies but kind towards those he cares about. He marries one woman, and there's her maid, and its not really a focal point. Imo the romance is quite wholesome and well written too. He's very focused on cultivation, and leaves his wife to do cultivation stuff for years at a time. Translation is pretty solid, there are some minor mistakes like messing up names sometimes or gender pronouns such as he/she, but its not frequent enough to really disrupt the reading experience imo. The writing quality overall is quite a step up from what you normally see in popular novels on this site. If I had to compare it, it's like a tier below the writing/translation quality in the deathblade translation of beyond the timescape if you've read that, but still much better than most.
that was unexpected lmao
I know I've already left one review, but I feel like it doesn't accurately reflect my feelings on the novel anymore, so I wanted to simply say this. After nearly 400 chapters, i can confidently say this is one of my favorite web novels of all time. It's a hidden gem, and it's absolutely criminal that this novel is still not more popular. It's just one of those stories that gets better and better as you read. The update stability is great as well, give this novel a try.
