Sharp observation, yeah Alex is kinda suck at using guns in general, but he have some knowledge to not flag someone and how to flick the gun safety off because of how he plays the game a lot and maybe some YouTube tutorial, Aiming and recoil control, especially with an assault rifle is not viable to use consistently for him, he only uses the AK 102 because that is the only protection he has at the start of the story. Some neart he future of the story, he will have some training from someone and not stuck using only a shotgun and pistol .

I see what the op talking about, it's about pacing, if you have a love interest in your novel you have to make it believable, don't rush it, it's okay with the smut but that kind of pacing is such a turn-off, especially in this platform, and the op giving you 1.5 star it's not that bad, try posting this on fanfiction net, they really gonna chew you out. But keep writing author, don't give up
