Scary amounts, especially in the trans community. A study done in 2018 showed that around 30% of teen trans girls, 45% of non-binary teens, and 60% of teen trans boys attempt suicide.
I didn’t think you were trying to insult anyone. I have found that most misrepresentation simply come from a lack of knowledge, not maliciousness. ( > ◡ < ) Yep. It would be appropriate to call Rakisha trans or trangender.
Transexual and tranny to some are offensive slurs. Unless told otherwise, call the trans people you know trangender or trans.
Hey JazzBerryJam, you have no idea how happy it makes me that there is trans representation in your book! In case you are unaware, the terms trans*xual and tranny can be offensive. Trans*xual can be used to refer to someone who has undergone medical transition, but to some it offensive do to its historical use when being trangender was treated as mental illness or s*xual deviancy. Tranny is considered a slur by most, though some use it to describe themselves to take away its power. Unless a trans person has stated that they wish to be know as such, one should regard that person as trangender or trans. If Rakisha is someone who refers to herself as such, then let us all bow down to the queen. If not, JazzBerryJam, you might want to change the terms used.
