if he didnt kill the farmer then he would most likely still get burned by the farmer so he had to kill him

well you see he was in fear that he probably couldn't move his body like when you see a predator and you know you can't out run it your body freezes which probably happen to the farmer

honestly they could mistake it for blood splatter from the farmer but that will still make him sus af
