He’s really playing in to the character.

The characters were fine and the story is interesting. There were some parts that seemed like a slough to get through but there were few and far between the book. Overall it was a pretty solid read.

The dao is like a fundamental truth of the universe. If you grasp the dao in xian cos novels you can then use the truth you have grasped to warp reality to your desire. Thus the dao was a concept from xian xia that gave the characters power
