He complained that he raised the age if the school for the ship with hinata. He never complained about canon ages, the author could have let the characters graduate school and then do the romance after, no reason to change the school just for it. Waiting after the school would have even been better because it would have allowed them to be friend first and partner in team to flash out their feelings
