hmmm a room temperature iq, how quaint
Youre falling into the trap, you want your mc to be grounded, and you want to show him growing step by step. Unfortunately you set him up to fail in such a way that he just seems like a wasteman. He has not had a win, not a one. Every time he grows even a tiny bit, you have him slapped down by a random oc. Then you keep comparing him to other characters that are doing much better than him despite being known to be weaker than him and are side characters... why should i care about this character? I already know that his power level is going to be inconsistent and no matter how strong he is in his village and training he can lose at any point to inverse plot armour.
The je'daii were the only ones who understood the force, the jedi and sith are just morons. To give you a modern parable the dedi and sith are console fanboys and rhe je'daii were pc master race
Spoiler alert, dumbkes will infact not handle it.

well its a bit like how mike tyson probably wouldnt have said mma is the superior fighting sport let me abandon my title and retrain for a style that runs counter to my muscle memory in his prime.
the absolute wasted opportunity to not have named her Poppin D Cherry which would have been a fabulous triple entendre, because poppins candy had a chrry flavour and it was called a poppin becauseyou could just pop it right into your mouth....
havent read the story yet, but as a chronic pedant i just want to point out that umm actually, dragons generally dont have riders.... it was a very rare thing actually and it was originally not seen as an honour but as a reluctant burden a bit like janissaries in the ottomon empire. giving up some dragons to be art of the riders was a restituton paid by dragons after surrendering in their war vs the elves thanks to the betrayal of the first eragorn's dragon. it was only after generations of healing and honouring the other people that being bonded became a sacred duty not a burden.... and even then it remained limited to a small percentage of all dragons.
