Chapter 4

Outside of StarLabs.....

police surrounded the building as the alarms reigned through the city, Gordan stood behind the door of a police car, shouting at his radio.

"Goddammit tell them to hold off-" Gordan cut off what he said due to a feeling of a presence behind him, he turns his head around to see robin and Batman standing behind him "Don't go in without my orders" he added before putting it down.

"Gordan what's the situation," Batman spoke tentatively waiting for Gordon for an update.

"What we know is there's a man with a mask in there, a swat team went in," Gordan said making Batman frown in confusion "no word has come back in 30 mins."

Batman without a thought shot his grapple hook upwards before taking off, Gordon's eyes followed "Arent you gonna follow?" He asked before looking back down only to notice Robin disappeared.

"Apple doesn't fall far from the tree I see." He quipped before returning to his radio.

Through the hallways, hits could be heard as grunts synchronized, around the corner the missing swat could be seen laying down on the ground barely breathing as the last one standing could be seen getting engulfed in attacks by the winter soldier before getting his head pulled down to the floor knocking him out.

Standing up the winter soldier continued towards a grovelling scientist near a door before picking him by the back of his neck and shoving his face into a panel which began emitting a green light.

A few seconds later the door open, the winter soldier then threw the scientist away behind him as he walked into a small room which held multiple weapons and a single metal briefcase.

Walking past the weapons he then grabbed the briefcase before proceeding out.

Meanwhile...

Batman began examining the bodies, first he checked each of the pulses "Jim I found the swat team I suggest you bring in medical straight away."

"I'll send them in," Gordon said over comms, as Batman continued investigating while continuing on the trail of bodies.

"Robin have you found anything," Batman spoke through comms again as he continued walking.

"I found the scientist who tripped the alarm, I'm currently trying to download the footage now." Robin replied, "Batman he needs a doctor fast."

"Jim already called in the medical team." Batman told robin who sighed in relief "Even if they're alive they're still in serious condition if you find anything let me know." he added

"Ok Batman in on it." as the comms ended Batman continued forward while thinking about the swat and scientists injuries, he concluded that the individual was strong and fast due to the gun shells and the lake of blood he knew that he wasn't shot.

And also there are fewer shells on the ground then a clip has so the swat team was disarmed in the process of the fight, and due to blood from the mouth and broken ribs, arms and legs of the men he was skilled combat.

There was also a knife wound disabling one of them, all this Batman theorized this man was a trained mercenary.

As Batman's thoughts ran wild he soon heard footsteps, he then pulled a Batarang but hid it behind his arm making it not visible for the person in front.

Then the Winter Soldier appeared around from the corner before starting down the Bat, it was a standstill no one making a move in the slightest.

Batman threw his Batman trying to catch the solider off by surprise but he just blocked it with the briefcase before pulling out his gun and firing into the bat's direction.

Dodging everything Batman closed the gap before grabbing his arm and pushing down on his shoulder making the winter soldier drop the gun and kneel, but the soldier then drop the case and countered by using one hand he did a standing front flip landing on his feet.

Then using the same method he grabbed batmans arm and pushed down on his shoulder making Batman kneel himself.

Getting his teeth Batman used his will power to stand up using everything he had until reaching the height of the winter soldier he then headbutted him making the soldier lose his hold.

Batman then began to follow up on punches and kicks before getting caught by his leg, the winter soldier then threw him to the end of the hall.

it was obvious in terms of strength and speed the Winter Soldier best him but in skill and experience, Batman was better.

Standing up he quickly threw smoke pellets at his direction and rushed in throwing Batarang this time it was batman's advantage.

Meanwhile with Robin...

Going through the camera feeds he began searching for anything that can give a clue who this mysterious masked man is, that's when he found out most of the camera feeds have been erased except one.

the current room, he noticed that someone was trying to hack into the last camera the reason why it didn't go out like the others was that some of them were on a different server "Heh thank you Wayne tech." robin quipped before hacking into that last which was less than a second.

Watching the camera feed he eyes widened before closing it "Batman I think I found something." he spoke over comms only to get radio silence.

He then rushed out of the room towards Batman's tracker on display on his gauntlet.

The sound of glass can be heard smashing as the winter soldier was flying through the glass into a lab, getting back up he pulled a glass out of his soldier before throwing it away.

"I'm going to ask you again, why did you break into Starlabs, what's in the briefcase." Batman asked sternly while jumping through the window into the lab he had a few cuts in his suit but it obvious he had the advantage for a while.

In response, The winter soldier threw a knife at his direction only it be dodged, but that was only to close the gap as the soldier then grabbed him and kneed him into ribs.

Batman grunted in pain before grabbing his leg and lifted him up and slammed the soldier into the floor and began punching furiously, but the Winter Soldier then put him into a triangle hold locking him in not allowing him to escape.

But Batman grabbed his vest with both his hands and lifted him before slamming into the broken window frame making the soldier release his hold due to the pain of glass in his back.

Pulling out his stun gun he shot it at his neck, which in response was the scream of pain coming for the WS but Batman only glared as he saw him using his willpower using his shaking arms he ripped out the wires.

The winter soldier then rushed forward, using greater speed than before in his punches he unleashed a full assault utilising kicks, punches and grabs, Batman kept up but even he could stop some punches in simple words into turned into a true fight.

Winter Soldier then used a spinning kick to Batman in the chest sending him flying into a counter quickly jumping out of the broken glass window he went into the hallway and grabbed the briefcase before running.

"BATMAN!" Finally reaching his partner "Sorry I could get here sooner I had to help the medical team"

"Robin! WE chase him down he took the briefcase." He ordered getting back up to his feet it was obvious he suffered from a few broken ribs but he still stood tall.

"Batman, what could be in that case that's so important?" Robin asked everything didn't make sense after the video feed he saw.

"I don't know but I'm going to find out." Was the last words he said before running after the Soldier, Robin then followed suit.
