Chapter 1

Our blades clashed, the courtyard filled with the sounds our training session produced.

Sweat beaded from my forehead as I advanced again to strike my trainer.

He dodged. Again.

An exasperated sound escaped my clenched teeth and I tensed my arms fully so I could apply more focused force.

I raised my sword and aimed for a roof strike. My hands tingled and my knuckles kicked out white as I executed the roof strike.

My sword aimed for my trainer's skull, as it was meant to do with this strike.

"You need to concentrate more.", with these words he parried my blow and the force sent me stumbling backwards.

"Lilian. You can do better than that."

He elegantly slid his sword back into its sheath and took a step towards me.

My body felt as if I were electrified. Every fibre in me tingled and my palms burned.

The words of my trainer reached my ears only in a muffled way, the noise that ran through my head drowned everything out.

It was as if there was only me in my head and this tingling sensation that was getting stronger and stronger.

Heat spread through me. My hand tightened more and more around the hilt of my sword and my breath quickened.

I hardly noticed that my posture was changing and even my trainer's voice was no longer muffled in my ears.

The tingling grew steadily, it was almost unbearable. I felt an inner rage rise up inside me, it seemed to drive me on. My body moved as if of its own accord as I raised my head, as well as my sword, and began another attack.

My eyes followed Lilian's steps. Her body had gone into a complete tizzy.

"Miss Lillian!", her trainer's words sounded surprised as he pulled out his sword as swiftly as he could to intercept her blow.

She had begun to fight again without hesitation. The air around her was literally on fire, her entire aura had changed.

It fascinated me to see her like that and my eyes never left her body.

She had actually managed to take the sword from her trainer by deliberately knocking it out of his hand, her blade was only a few millimetres from his throat.

Her breath came violently in loud puffs, her whole body quivering.

She had lowered her head, but when she looked into her trainer's face, he froze completely.

Oh? a smile spread across my lips.

Her normally warm eyes now radiated such coldness. They burned like fire on my skin when I looked into them. Held me captive, like a fish in a net.

"Miss Lillian. I resent such behaviour."

I rolled my eyes. I should get her a new trainer. This one clearly had no clue what he was up against.

So far, no one but me knew that Lillian was the perfect weapon. One day she would be the solution to my problems. She would grow under my guidance until I could use her to kill.

My attention turned again to Lillian's body, her power visibly draining from her. Her sword fell to the ground and the man in front of her backed away.

Coward.

The strength in my body, drained from me. I felt as if the ground was being pulled out from under my feet and I staggered.

Black dots danced in front of my field of vision.

"Nicholas...", I brought out as my body fell forward.

"Here, Princess."

With blurred vision, I looked into the forest green eyes of Nicholas, my fiancé. He had caught my limp body and I was leaning against his chest. I felt his arms around me and his gaze on me before all my strength left me and I fell into complete darkness.
