Chapter 1 Thunderstruck (Revished 2.0)

07.00 Am. Sunday, March 22, 2076, Sanctuary Hill

"Uwaaah!" I jolt awake by a nightmare, catching up my breath I stand up and go to the kitchen drinking a glass of water. My name is Ray McAllister, a sophomore at South Boston High School. And my hobby is playing tabletop game and not to brag I'm a computer wiz too. Well, I'm a complete nerd by everyone standard. Recently, a recurring nightmare have plague my mind. In my dream, a nuclear war happens at, October 23, 2077. But, I'm surviving the ordeal by entering the vault. And getting cryogenically frozen.

And then after some times passes, an asshole appears out of nowhere. And cut everyone life support, leaving me dead in the process. After drinking a glass of water to calm my nerve. I look around the deserted house. "Weird, where is everyone?" As I say that out loud, I'm facepalming, myself in embarrassment. Remembering that my parent will be gone for quite a while for some seminar or something. Both of my parent work as Vault-Tec employee, my father Allan McAllister work as an engineer. While my mother work as a scientist. I heard they're currently working in a cryogenic pod project in vault 111.

I broke into a cold sweat remembering my dream. Realizing the nature of my parent work. Err, it's just a coincidence, right? Well anyway, I'd better finish my chore, and get back to finishing my dream project. After the chore taken care off, I walk into the basement and start working finishing my project. Grinning, I'm working on the terminal with excitement, "heh. With this line of code completed. I can finally finish this project, muahaha!" A while ago, I found a schematic drawing from my father's study. It's a drawing of a machine that can generate an intractable holographic image into the air.

From the document, this machine used by the military as a sand table. But in my hand, I will transform it into the ultimate gaming machine. I can't wait for this machine to finished. And I have a game in mind loaded into this machine, Into The Wasteland. A table-top RPG game, that I have converted into a video games. I love the setting of the games. But I overhaul its mechanic by following the real world SPECIAL system. A system, invented in 2055 by Dr. Chris Caining, and Dr. Tim Jesse. They use a machine that quantifies our body parameter.

The SPECIAL system, used by the military and company to hire a qualified personnel. And I see the PIP-Boy that my dad owned. Use The SPECIAL system to read the wearer vital. I build this machine with my friend. The first one is Bruce, he is the one charged with the circuit board and chip. As his family own a used terminal shop. Second is Allan, he's charged to design the chassis as he's talented at designing things. And the third is George, he is the one who funded this entire project while I'm the one charged with the software side.

As I'm busy writing the code, a spark appears from the back of the terminal. Shocked, I stopped what I'm doing and quickly pull the cord, cutting its power. As I did that, another spark come, accompanied by a small explosion. Caught in the explosion, I'm getting electrocuted and thrown across the room. My eyes getting heavier when my body touching the ground, damn it! Even though I'm going to finish that code. While I'm out cold on the ground. Out of nowhere, Three wisps of energy resembling fish appear in the basement.

The three wisps start talking among themselves while floating on top of me. The golden one hesitating, "are you sure he's the right one?" Irritated, the black one reply, "I'm sure of it. Didn't we see the Gaia energy that have entered his body with our own eyes?" The blue one nodding in silence. While the golden one sighing, and saying, "alright then. You know this is the first time for both of us entering our descendant body, right?" Rolling his eyes, the black one reply, tch. I know, so shut up and follow my lead. This isn't the first time I've done this. After all, he's the only hope for our clan to survive."

Nodding, the three wisps entering my body. Three hours passes, and I'm getting awakened by the banging from the door upstairs, "Ray! Are you alright in there? Your aunt says she heard an explosion from your home!" Dazed, I try to answer the knocking by shouting, "ugh. I'm alright, please wait for a few moments." But the banging didn't stop at all. Getting up from the ground, I stagger up the stairs, to answer the front door. Opening the door, I greeted by my neighbor worried expression, "you alright Ray? What just happen in there?" Feeling his worry, I let out a faint smile, "I'm alright, uncle Nate. I just got electrocuted, that's all." Mr. Nate, is a veteran from the anchorage war who live beside us. He is one of my father best friend. So, I'm usually called him uncle Nate. Shocked, by my answer, he quickly grab my shoulder. And checking my body while asking, "do you need to go to the hospital?" I'm shaking my head, "no uncle. I don't need to go to the hospital. What I need is a Stimpack, that's all."

Worried, he's asking me once again, to be sure, "are you sure you're okay?" Helpless, I'm nodding, saying, "I'm okay. You see." I'm flexing my pitiful muscle, hoping he understands that I'm okay. Uncle Nate looking at me with suspicion. He's shaking his head, "don't be shy now. Your father has entrusted me with you while he's busy. And I just don't want you to get into trouble." Sighing, I shake my head, "for goodness' sake. I don't need to go to the hospital." He, let go of me and nod, "alright then I'm trusting your judgment."

Before uncle Nate go, he asks, "Okay, then go and rest on the sofa first, I'll come back with the Stimpack. Have you eaten anything today?" Looking outside, it looks like it's already evening. Gah, I'm so busy working that I lost track of time. Sighing, I shake my head, seeing my answer. He helps me lie down on the sofa, "I will get you a Stimpack and something to eat after that. You go to sleep, okay?" I'm nodding, "Okay." He goes outside after seeing me lie down on the sofa in silence. After a while, he comes back with a Stimpack and a plate of spaghetti.

I eat the spaghetti with relish, man, I'm really starving huh. After finishing the spaghetti, uncle takes the plate home while reminding me to go to sleep. But, before he can take a step outside. He's reminding again, "oh yeah if you need anything just call me okay." Helpless, I nodded while waving my hand "okay -okay, good night uncle Nate." Smiling, he's waving back, "Good night Ray." True to my word, I get back to my room and fall asleep. Waking up, I'm greeted by a translucent panel in front of my eyes, "whoa!"

Shocked, I fall down from my bed, "what the hell was that!?" Frowning, I'm taking a closer look at the panel. Shocked, I'm standing up and shout, "isn't this!"

"It's the SPECIAL system from the game I made!" Excited, I'm trying to calm down and think for a second. "How is this happening?" I'm thinking in silence and then run to the basement. Checking the terminal, I'm finding that the data inside completely wiped clean. I take a deep breath, dang, it looks like all the system I make for the game have transferred to my body. I hope if not then that mean my all my effort have gone to the drain. Sighing, I'm standing in silence for some times in the basement. Hesitating, should I use the system.

Distressed, I look around the room. Finding it in disarray after the explosion, "sigh, it looks like I need to clean this place up again." As I'm ready to clean up the mess, "rumble." I'm clutching my rumbling stomach. For now, I'd better take a bath and have some breakfast first, I'm starving.
