An Year Later

Golden gleaming eyes held my being captive, they sucked me in like a vortex. My agony, my screams drowned in the magnetic force that restrained me. He drew closer patiently, and my heart drummed in my chest with fear and anticipation.

But the toxicant trance broke with some ominous eruption when he was a breath away from me. Another bang shook my world off its axis, I stumbled back into an abyss only to open my eyes with a start, sweltering in my own sweat in the mid of November. The ragged breath had me shutting my eyes, hiding behind my hands.

I flinched with another loud bang, I realized my door was the victim of these blows.

"...Reyna! Rey, please! Open the door, f*cking talk to me! …" like always the chaos in my head drowned him out.

The excruciating torture of knowing he was a door away yet miles apart from where I was trapped went on for another minute before I heard the retreating steps. I let go of the breath, I didn't know I was holding.
