Chapter 1? - Thirst of the Island!

"Haiso!!!!!!" Said Irabel, her arm flying in the wind, longing for a high five from the boy she loved. He slapped her petite little hand from the sky, landing behind her with a determined smirk. "You ready Ira?" He said,

"Beyond!" And the two set off into the cave beyond their village walls. The walls were lined with sparking stones and snaking water features. Resulting from some strange booring noises stemming from the light at the end of the tunnel-like cavern. Haiso slipped his fingers into Ira's..

"I hope you know, Haiso, no matter what happens, I will always adore you."

Hey, genius author here, just gonna cut to like ten or something years later, so don't worry about the past of these two losers or anything, just like keep reading or somethn.

"Irabel, grab me a cold one will ya?" Said Haiso as he finnicked with a small bit of palm wood implanted into his hand. "Like we even have cold water, grab yourself some.." Irabel was perched upon a large rough Plato of driftwood, slowly dipping a smooth slice of cooked turtle into a home-made mystery sauce of sorts.

"Wanna try my new recipe? I mixed up the coconut guts and added my own touch with some fresh fish flakes." Haiso shook his head, sticking his half wooden toes into the sand, then raising his arm up, and magnifying the sun's light directly into a small light within his hand. He learned the crystals from the cave allow for some… Interesting behaviors in different materials from the island. And ever since he's had free time away from building the main fort, he's tinkered around with the power of the crystals.

"It's like you've given up hope on leaving this place Ira.."

Irabel removed the sap from her mouth, which she used as a toothbrush throughout the day, "haven't lost hope, just don't wanna go insane is all, I mean, the sun doesn't set here, the sun doesn't sunburn here, the ocean is endless here, it's like everything here is made to drive you insane.. I'm just fighting back." She tied up her exceedingly thick long black hair, then walked up to the shore line, dumping out her new sauce.

"Why did you ask me to try the recipe if it was trash?" Haiso said, jamming a makeshift stone screwdriver into his wooden frame. Which wrapped around his bicep and down to his palm. "Wanted to see the look on your sensitive little face when you tried it!"

"Yeah, very funny.. Screw off." He pried the mini blue gem from a cavity within his palm wood hand, then held it up in the sunlight. "This one reacted to water last time I threw it in, I wonder if it will after I synchronized it.." He dropped the gem into a driftwood cup, where it briskly bubbled up, like a carbonated drink. "Interesting."

Irabel shoved her face into his business, nabbing the cup from his wooden grip, then pouring the contents down her throat. The gem fell onto her forehead, and tears ran down her face. "Haiso, this water is… It's cold."

"C-c-ccccc-cc-c… cold?" The two immediately filled up a few more cups with the fresh source of water which seemed to materialize out of nowhere when they first arrived on the island ten years ago. "COLD WATER, GLUG GLUG GLUG GLUG.."

"OH HOW QUENCHING, GLUG GLUG GLUG- excuse me, what are we doing." Said Irabel, looking at Haiso, who's face went flat, "what?"

In the chaos, somehow between sharing the gem, it fell to the shell covered ground, shattering everywhere. Ira imagined a cave filled with that exact gem, so she stood and shook her hands, "there's gotta be plenty more of those in the cave rig-"

"That was the last one.."
