Twilight: The Pup

Lilly isn't a reincarnator or someone special, born to a family of Shape-shifters, she lived a happy life in the wilderness far from society.

She was a special breed of Shape-shifter, she didn't need to encounter a vampire to change, it was more like a defense mechanism, it only occurred when she willed it to happen or was in grave danger.

One night while returning home from a run in the woods, she quickly hid behind a large rock as screaming and gunshots came from her home.

Peaking around the rock, she sees her parents in their wolf from fighting what looks like a group of vampires, she had never seen a vampire before but they looked strong.

She covers her mouth as tears fall from her grey eyes, with her vision becoming blurry, she continues to watch until her mother's head is cut clean off with a sword.

She immediately turns into her puppy form and runs as fast as her little legs can go.

Day turns to night, dark clouds cover the sky, and rain falls all around her.

After running for hours and hours in a straight line, she slows down and wobbles with exhaustion.

Looking around, she sees trees in every direction, the only thing that stands out is a house with no lights on.

Using what little strength she has left, she walks towards the house, noticing that the front door isn't closed properly, she walks in cautiously.

Jumping onto a chair that sits in the corner of the room, weeping to herself as she falls asleep.

--- POV Change: Carlisle Cullen ---

Returning home from a long night at work, he parks in the driveway outside of the garage.

Leaving his car, he fears the worst, his front door is open and the smell of wolf flows in the air, he thankfully can't smell any blood.

Entering his home, he follows the scent into the living room, where he sees a small pup, barely a few years old.

''Rosalie isn't going to like this", he says after seeing his wife enter behind him.

Esme laughs at him while patting his shoulder, "I'm not a fan of wolves either, especially shape-shifters, but won't send a child out in the rain"

"Go get a blanket, I'll make some warm milk", she says with a motherly smile.

Knowing not to question his wife, he nods and speeds off to the laundry room.

--- One Hour Later ---

Rosalie, Alice, Emmet, & Jasper return home after a hunt in the woods for rabbits and other furry animals.

Before they can step through the door, however, they are stopped by Esme, "Before any of you come in, there are a few things you must know"

"There is a wolf pup in the living room, we don't know how she got there but that fact is irrelevant, she's barely a pup, only a few years old, and has a severe fever"

"I won't send a sick child out in the rain to fend for themselves, if you dislike having a shape-shifter here, go stay in a hotel for few days"

Normally, Emmet or Rosalie, have no problem talking back and giving their opinion but the glare from their mother figure keeps their mouths shut, they merely nod at her.

Following their mother, they are greeted by a sweet sight, a pure grey pup with white paws, hiding in a corner whilst drinking a bowl of milk.

Carlisle waves them away, "no crowding her, she's probably very scared, she needs rest"

They nod again and head to their rooms, what happened next surprised the family.

The pup followed after Rosalie into her room and rubbed her head against the woman's legs as a show of affection.

Alice giggles at her confused sister, "i think she likes you"
