Chapter Eleven
Amaris stood frozen as Mirage pulled him to his feet by the back of his collar. “We found him in the storage level.” He said as he pushed him to a chair.
“Who sent you?” Shark barked.
“I come from myself and myself alone.” Noah was calm. He spoke pleasantly, as if he was in the middle of a tea party instead of interrogated by a dozen armed angry men. But something was different about him. Amaris couldn’t put a finger on it.
“He must be a spy of the emperor’s.” Mirage said.
Hawk turned to Ash. “Did you check the storage after we left Paradelia?”
Ash nodded. “He wasn’t there.”
“Then he must’ve slipped in during the fire.”
“What do we do with him?”
“Kill him.”
“Interrogate him first.”
“I know how to make him talk.”
The voices tangled, each one suggesting something worse than the one before it.
