Chapter 33: Lunch Date

Max smiled at Gemma as she opened the door and slid into the backseat next to him. He'd been pleasantly surprised when she'd messaged him about meeting again, their break wasn't quite over yet but it looked like they were on the right track.

"Hi," Gemma said with a nervous smile as she closed the door and the car drove off. She sniffed the air surreptitiously, taking in the familiar and comforting smell of Max's cologne. She had been so focused on telling Max about her conversation with Blaze that she hadn't stopped to think about how she'd feel seeing him again after their last conversation.

"I hope you're in the mood for Chinese food," Max said in a teasing tone, wanting to break the silence between them.

Gemma groaned softly and nodded fervently. "I'm definitely down for some Chinese food. I might need to take a nap after lunch though."

Max chuckled lightly as the car slowed to a stop outside the restaurant. "Thank you for the ride."
