Is the government creating half-Ghoul humans? Can there be a cure for Ghouls to stop consuming human flesh? The questions were numerous, but there were no answers. After Kenzo's live broadcast, a scandal erupted throughout Tokyo, decimating the entire Japanese government.
Everything Kenzo had leaked was extremely sensitive, causing widespread protests and a massive rejection of the idea of creating more monsters. Some contradicted Kenzo, questioning why he discriminated against humans if he didn't want to support a particular stance. Others argued that humans weren't much better.
"Damn it!"
"How does that Ghoul have such explicit information?" asked one of the high-ranking officials, slamming the table with force. "That's not important; we must counterattack and stop this damn hell being directed at us with fury."
Shinohara Yukinori observed the chaos caused by Kenzo's transmission in silence. Could there really be a cure that could make Ghouls more human than they already are? If such a cure existed, there would be no need to continue the senseless war between humans and Ghouls. The war would stop, and no one else would have to die in a meaningless conflict.
It's true that as humans, they have always hated Ghouls. Shinohara Yukinori himself belonged to that group of new recruits who wanted to eliminate all monsters and create a free world. However, a truly free world, as they knew it, seemed impossible to achieve without a bloody war.
Beep-beep!
At that moment, Shinohara Yukinori received a message from an unknown number.
"[Hello, Mr. Shinohara Yukinori. You may not know who I am, but you might remember me since one of your subordinates stole my wallet some time ago. I found some important things in my late mom's old research, so I wanted to deliver it to you in person.]"
Shinohara Yukinori was intrigued and immediately asked, "[Isn't it possible to send it directly through a message?]"
"[It's not possible. If any of the things I'll show you leak, believe me, it will cause more than chaos... I can't explain it in words, but if the information is real, everyone is in serious trouble. Come to the address in the next message, the time, and the place, but please, come alone.]"
Shinohara Yukinori turned off his cellphone, contemplating the situation that had unfolded in a few brief seconds. He remembered the man who had stormed into the CCG, beating everyone because an investigator had stolen his wallet. It was risky and brave of him.
During that time, many were interested in recruiting him as a Ghoul detective, but out of respect for Kenzo's deceased mother, Shinohara Yukinori avoided involving him in a world where he might die. Moreover, Kenzo, as per Shinohara Yukinori's investigation, was a businessman who donated more than half of his profits to support families affected by Ghouls, providing free medical treatment.
The things said about Kenzo in the world where Shinohara Yukinori moved were incredibly unbelievable. That's why he respected him, and now that he knew who that man was, he was very intrigued.
"What I suggest is to increase the number of police, Ghoul investigators, and military personnel in the most important bases. We must ensure that we don't receive a devastating attack from the Ghouls. As it is known, they have been silent for days."
It was strange that Ghouls weren't showing up frequently, causing fear among many officials. After the meeting, Shinohara Yukinori left for the location.
...
In an unknown location, Kenzo adjusted a black suit and said, "All the necessary information is in the gathered files, right?"
Number One responded, "Everything about the CCG president is there, including explicit information that he is a Ghoul."
Kenzo nodded upon hearing this. So, after knowing what he wanted and obtaining what he needed, he walked towards the elevator. It might be confusing now, but at some point, everyone would learn that his plan was the best, and when everything aligned, he would gain more than the war.
