Teiko vs Nambara Part I

The decision of  Teiko's  Junior High coach left the majority baffled. Why on earth would he allow only first years to fight on the match? Granted they were from the first strings, but they were still newbies. The lineup of Teiko was quite entertaining for everyone.

A redhead, Akashi, was the point guard.  A purple giant, Murasakibara, as the center. A glasses-wearing guy with green hair, Midorima, as the shooting guard. A dark blue-haired youth, Aomine, as the power forward. And the blond enigma, Shinoda, as the small forward.

Inside the gym, there were different reactions to the line-up. The fellow rookies were excited to see the match, knowing that they would learn a lot from watching the first strings. The seniors from Teiko were looking forward to seeing their juniors play, hearing that their skills were impressive. It was the students from the other school that thought differently.

"How dare he thinks first years can handle our team." The coach from Nambara Junior High gritted in anger. Turning to his team, he whispered, "Let's show them what our team is capable of. No matter how elite this school is, first-years are no match to you."

The students agreed with their coach. "Don't worry coach," The captain who had orange hair smirked. "We'll teach them a lesson not to underestimate us." Their eyes glanced at the teens who were shorter than them. Only the purple-haired guy was tall. "We'll crush their spirits before we even play!" They grinned darkly as they planned to play a mental game first.

The players for the first half of the game were now huddled up. "We'll win this." Nijimura's voice was calm as he addressed his teammates. "Give it your all and play with your strengths." Everyone was listening to him talk. "They will probably underestimating us, so must use that as an advantage and catch them off-guard." The others nodded their head in agreement.

"Let's win this." Everyone yelled out, "Yeah!" Their faces were serious, determined to win. They were now all lined up in the middle of the court facing each other. The students from Nambara were grinning down at Shinoda and the others. Chuckling and glancing at each other as if they knew a secret.

After bowing at each other, they proceeded at their designated sport, ready to jumble. Murasakibara was chosen to jump as he was the tallest among them. "You can do it," Shinoda said in support. A Nambara student who was beside him snickered. "How pathetic, this would be an easy win for us."

His voice was loud enough for the player to hear but soft enough not to be heard by the referee. Shinoda narrowed his eyes as he glanced at the one who spoke. "Your coach made a bad decision for trusting you kids to handle this game."

Another student from Nambara laughed softly. "I know right? We'll be dribbling the ball around them in circles." Shinoda's ears were filled with their trash talk as they waited for the official to toss the game. "You guys are such pricks, watch who will beat you." Aomine had an irk mark on his forehead.

Shinoda cracked his neck as he watched the official toss the ball high up in the air. "I wonder who will really be dribbling the ball around who."

A loud sound of a palm smacking against the ball echoed through the court. Everyone gasped as they saw the large stature of Murasakibara floating in the air as he tapped the ball. Despite the speed, Shinoda was quick to grab it before a student from Nambara could.

As the small forward of the team, he was tasked with scoring points, defending, and passing the ball. With his speed, it was no problem. Shinoda zoomed past the unsuspecting Nambara students while dribbling the ball and passed it to Midorima who immediately scored a 3 point shot. Everyone from Teiko had smiles on their faces, and some were even cheering loudly.

The team from Nambara was shocked that the first years were able to score a point that quickly at the start of the game. Their team captain had dark look on his face. "That was just luck." His teammates followed. "You won't be so lucky next time, as you won't catch us off guard next."

When the referee whistled, the game was back on play. Now the opposing team had the possession of the ball. All the player were close to the post of Teiko, and Shinoda's team were defending theirs well. "We'll show you kids what a real game is like." The Nambara student tossed the ball to his team who was too slow to receive it. Aomine was quick to receive it and was about to run towards the other side of the court when he was blocked by the opponent's captain.

"Game over for you now." Before he could move, Aomine bounced the ball between the captain's legs and it was received by Shinoda. "Oops, not quite." The crowd was cheering loudly at them as the teams quickly ran to Nambara's court.

Shinoda didn't waste a second and dribbled the ball as fast as he could. The Nambara team was quick to block his way, 3 older students were standing before him. Teiko's coach narrowed his eyes as he watched Shinoda being in a predicament. Let's see if what they say is true. That you, Shinoda, move at a lightning speed.

The people from Teiko thought that Shinoda would be doing another quick move of his. They were shocked to see Shinoda maneuvering the ball around the opponents at a human-like fast speed. But although he was slower than what he was capable of, his footwork was amazing. No matter how hard his opponents try to grab the ball from him, Shinoda showed them how skilled he was in handling the ball.

"Argh! Stop moving around!" Frustration was clear in his voice. I won't show all of my abilities this early in the game. Shinoda thought. He knew that sooner or later, he will have to use his Thunder Breathing technique. But using it in a critical moment is the smartest move as it would startle the opponents, giving him the advantage.

Shinoda's speed and footwork made it seem like he was dancing elegantly. Reaching the last student from Nambara who was blocking his way, the blond noticed that it was the guy who taunted him earlier. Saying that their team would dribble the ball around Teiko's team in circles.

A smirk began to grow on Shinoda's face as an idea appeared in his mind. As soon as he got closer to the student, Shinoda crossed his feet over and passed him. But instead of going forward, Shinoda turned around and circled the player once again. Realizing what Shinoda is doing, a nerve bulged at the student's head.

"Why you!" The player tried to flick the ball away as fast as he could, but Shinoda's speed was far better than his. The smile on the blond's face didn't disappear as he feinted a move and passed the student again, just after he had circled around him.

Shinoda immediately jumped, his body in a perfect form as he shot the ball in the distance. His teammates were smirking as the students from Nambara were seething. With a playful arrogant look on his face, Shinoda turned to the student who had taunted them earlier. "You were saying? Who would dribble the ball around who is in circles?"
