Prologue

31st December 1950...

I can hear several violins playing a chorus. Of course, it was New Year's night and the Whitechapel's grand hall was always booked for everyone to celebrate it together. The hall was full of people from the entire city.

"Let's go..." I whispered slightly and smiled as I looked at him.

We locked our arms as we walked over the red carpet in the grand lobby leading to the hall.

As we descend the stairs both of us looked at the people there, not making it much obvious. Though we were looking for him desperately, still, we didn't want him to know that...

"Mr Flynn, thanks a lot for taking me with you today." I smiled once again.

Now we were standing in the centre of the hall, and the surrounding people were dancing according to the rhythm, slowly...

"Pleasure's all mine, Ms Lennon!" He kissed the back of my hand and pulled me close as we danced with everyone along with the rhythm.

While we both danced, our eyes never met. We both kept looking at each person. No one should be missed. The murderer was there, and he had claimed it.

"Why do we believe him?" I asked as we kept searching and dancing.

"Cause we don't have any other option," he answered back

"And...What if he's not here?"

"He has to be..."

I looked at him with suspicion.

"And may I ask why?"

"Today everyone is with a partner here. No one is alone and so, he has no choice but to be here."

"But don't you think being here is not much good for him?" And…I again started my hunt.

He looked at me and asked, "Why?"

"Cause it's full of people, he might get noticed," I claimed.

Looking away from me he suggested, "And what if I say that he chose this place as it's full of people making him rendered from being noticed?..."

Mr Flynn knew the murderer better than anyone. He could guess what the murderer was up to next…and now I think I knew the reason behind him being the finest one.
