Mauve walked into the dining hall and she could immediately tell everyone knew. Just how fast did news travel around here?

Mauve sat down and she could tell every single eye was on her and not Jael. The vampires finally took their seats and a few conversations ensued.

The number of guests hadn't changed and Mauve started to wonder if Jevera and her father had no plans to leave.

It wasn't that they behaved a certain way to her but they surely made her a little uncomfortable. They were a constant reminder that Jael would have to get a mate.

She glanced in their direction and found Lord Levaton's gaze on her. She winced and looked at her food immediately. She hoped they wouldn't stay any longer than they had.

She tried to eat but for some reason, the food tasted a bit bland. She figured it was the after-effect of the fever and pushed through it.
