Advancing to intermediate sorcerer

Rank 0 sorcerers were divided into three tiers; apprentice, intermediate and elite. Among veteran sorcerers, those at the apprentice level were simply seen as mortals who had sufficient Spirit to cast one or two spells.

However, due to the lack of a mental space, they could not use magic power to cast their sorceries and had to strain their Spirit to forcefully manipulate the elements in their surroundings to successfully perform the sorcery.

This was why the intermediate level was seen as a watershed, a major step towards shedding one's mortal roots towards becoming a more powerful form of existence! After entering the intermediate level and opening one's mental space, the sorcerer is able to absorb the world's elemental energy into one's mental space which can be used to cast sorcery instead of one's spirit.

Also compared to Spirit, magic power was very compatible with the elements and the world's laws, making it easy and less costly to cast sorceries! This, therefore, made an intermediate sorcerer almost two times stronger than a peak apprentice-level sorcerer!

August sat cross-legged on his bed and held the wind elemental core in his hand. "Trace of wind affinity detected. Extracting…" Rhea began the extraction process.

"Extraction completed. Wind affinity and spirit all increased by 1. Sorceries can undergo optimization."

Aaargh!!!!

As soon as he heard the notification he felt a sharp pain in his head and let out a painful scream. Luckily, the rooms in the tower were all soundproof and no one could hear his screams of pain at the moment. He felt as if his head was expanding and contracting at the same and felt his body heating up when all of a sudden he felt a cool sensation pass through his entire body as within his mind a small space started forming steadily…..

The space was dark and specks of green wind elemental power could be seen. What was interesting was a blue orb that was flickering in the middle of the space. Although this was the first time he had seen that orb, for some reason it seemed familiar to him. "It is me, Master August" Rhea's voice could be heard coming from the orb.

"Is this your real form?" August grew more and more curious about Rhea's origin.

"Yes, this is my current form. I could only reside in your soul previously. Now that you are improving your power, I can now stay in this mental space. Your improvement affects me as well as I can now handle more complex and computational tasks."

"I see," August said. Using his consciousness, he could also see the specks of wind elemental energy started transforming into gaseous magical power within the space. This is the sign of the successful transition to an intermediate sorcerer.

His consciousness left the mental space and returned to his body. He was surprised to see his clothes covered in some black liquid that came out from his body. They were the body's impurities that had come out from the pores of his skin after his Spirit crossed the 10-point mark.

Rhea showed him his stats after completing an extensive recalibration.

August noticed the changes in his stats where magic power data was now included and was not surprised as he prepared for this beforehand. This intermediate level is indeed a watershed stage in the sorcerer's path! This was his first big step!

He could feel his body's musculature becoming stronger, toned and lighter due to the increase in his base stats such as his physique, agility and strength. He felt light he could just sleep for a few hours before recovering his energy. "It must be nice being a body refining a sorcerer", August said in an amazed tone. Just this small increase in my stats and I feel like I can run for a mile although that is just probably an illusion. He stood up from his bed with a pleased expression before going to wash his body before coming to take a long, well-deserved sleep.

A few days later, the piece of news that reached everyone's ears shocked them, to say the least. The new and fast-rising sorcerer on the block, the 'Storm' August as he was popularly known among the apprentice sorcerers, had elevated to an intermediate sorcerer!

The young sorcerer only joined the Great Sorcerer Phelan's tower only a few months ago but has proven himself to be a prodigy as he was the fastest among the apprentices this year to become an intermediate sorcerer.

The closest person to rise that quickly in the tower was the fearsome rank 0 elite sorcerer, the bloodline sorcerer 'Dark Tiger' Romulov who advanced from apprentice to intermediate in just 4 months! Rumours were that even the Great Sorcerer Phelan was beginning to take notice of him and might be one of the budding prodigy recommendations that would be sent to the headquarters of Brander Clan.

The topic of discussion throughout the tower in recent days was in the mission office located in the mission hall.

He was summoned to the office at the behest of Rank 0 Sorcerer Leader Diana who was currently seated on a comfy chair with her legs crossed on top of the chair, revealing a curvy figure that will leave men unable to divert their eyes from her and restrict naughty thoughts from forming in their minds.

Diana stared strangely at August with her blue eyes as if trying to peer beneath this mysterious prodigy in front of her while twirling her blue hair. "Do you think I'm attractive, August? If you want…I could show you more of me…if you want." She played a simple trick in the book that won many sorcerers to her side in the tower. Too bad for her that she was dealing with August who did not have any expressions of lust towards her.

"Sorcerer Diana, please stop teasing me. I heard you requested for me?"

Seeing that the act did not faze August, Diana closed her eyes while smiling and opened them again as her attitude took a 180-degree turn and she spoke. "You are pretty good for being able to maintain your composure. I respect you even more now. Anyways congratulations, August, on your advancement. This was just at the right timing as many intermediate sorcerers are busy currently. I have a mission for you."
