The Past

There was a long pause before the woman replied to Scarlett's question ." Your parents were phoenixes . It was very unusual for two phoenixes to find each other , but by some miracle your parents met each other and fell in love . Phoenixes were extinct creatures , the last one we had heard of was Gregoria Jane until we met your parents . Your parents were a part of the academy until a creature started hunting them for their powers . Your mother was the principal of the academy , the best principal the school ever had and named her bestfriend as the principal before leaving ."

The woman was cut short by Scarlett . " Is Aurelia Dave my mother's best friend ? Did she know I'm their daughter? Is that why she held me there ?" Scarlett flooded the woman with questions .

" I don't know if she has any idea about you . Your parents were the ones who had created this village for the forbiddens . They didn't contact anyone in the outside world as it would put their lives in danger . When your mother was the principal , there was a place for forbiddens in the academy too but Aurelia Dave termed forbiddens as unworthy and threw everyone out right when she became the principal . Your mother was heartbroken . She couldn't believe her bestfriend would do this ."

Scarlett was listening to the woman , but then she felt a sharp pain hit her head . As if someone had hit her with a heavy metal and just like that her whole world collapsed into a realm of darkness .

Scarlett woke up to being trapped in a cell . She wasn't sure what was happening . She looked around to find anyone but there was no one in there .

She sees a woman standing at a distance after some time . She calls out for the woman but , nothing . The woman didn't even care to turn around and look at her .

She couldn't take it anymore and started calling out her help . She tried every method to get out of the cell but nothing worked . After a short time , she notices someone walking towards her . She looks up to find Daisy standing beside her cell ." I'm sorry , it happened all of a sudden . I think our location has been compromised. One second there was no one standing there and then a dark entity lunged out of nowhere and grabbed you ."

Scarlett was terrified . She wasn't sure what anyone would want from her . " What is this place ?" Daisy looked at the door and realized someone was coming . " We need to leave . Give me your hand ." Daisy started chanting words similar to the gibberish words the woman had chanted to open the secret door to the village .

A man walked to their direction but then he stopped and it seemed like he could see nothing . He opened the cell and walked in but he could see no one in the cell . Daisy pulled Scarlett out the cell and they started running without looking back . It felt like they'd been running for hours until they stopped in front of the village entrance that was concealed .

Scarlett stood there to catch her breath from all the running they did . " Where ....Where was that place ? " Though she was tired , she wouldn't give up asking question . She wanted to know who would want her in a cell .

Daisy didn't answer and started chanting those gibberish chants . Once the village entrance was revealed they walked in and went to Scarlett's parents' house . The woman was sitting there with a hint of worry on her forehead .

" Oh , thank the gods , you're both safe ." The woman got up from her seat and hugged both Scarlett and Daisy . " Where did you find her ? Was the location spell accurate?" She looked at Daisy and was waiting for an answer .

Daisy sat down and faced the woman . " Yes , it was accurate . I found her where the spell had pointed but I can't believe it ." Daisy's words confused Scarlett . What could she not believe ?

Scarlett sat down beside Daisy and asked her with a note of seriousness in her voice . " What can you not believe ? " Daisy looked at her with concern in her eyes . " I cannot believe that the cells were located under the academy . It would mean someone from the academy had a hand in this ."

Scarlett was just as shocked as Daisy . Was someone from the academy behind her kidnapping ? What did they want from her ? Was it one person or are there more involved?

Scarlett was suddenly struck with a question . She had forgotten to ask Daisy , how she wasn't in the academy right now . " Is no one going to look for you in the academy ? How are you outside the academy ? " Daisy just smiled at her . " I came to the academy only to find you . It was already predicted that you'd come to the academy . Once I found you I had no work in the academy to stay there."

Scarlett didn't know what to say to that . But one thing Scarlett knew now for sure was that everything was related to that academy . With a determined look she asked Daisy , " How can I get into the academy ? "

Daisy was dumbstruck . Did she hear her right ? She wanted to go to the academy ! " You can't until you tap into your powers ."

Scarlett looked at her with confusion . Tap into her powers ? She didn't have any powers . " I don't have any powers to tap into Daisy . Stop joking with me ." Daisy chuckled at that . They both hadn't noticed the woman had left the room . Now the woman returned with two vials in her hand .

They both looked at her surprisingly . " What are these ? Are they some sort of medicine ? " Scarlett questioned looking at the vial .

The woman sat down beside them . " No , it's not medicine . These are concealment potions . Your parents have a cellar filled with potions for any emergency situation . These are for you and Daisy . You must have left behind some of your essence in the cell and they could find you easily with it . Drink these , it'll help conceal your location. " Scarlett looked at the woman with confusing eyes . " What essence?"

The woman got up and started pouring the potion in a glass for them . " Essence are magical trails which we leave behind when we use our magic or have strong emotions . You were scared and it was a strong enough emotion to leave some essence behind . Whereas Daisy used her magic , that resulted in her essence being left behind there . You might not believe me , but you're more than you think . You're not a human dear , your the daughter of two phoenixes combined . Your magic is far more superior to any other creature in this universe . "

Scarlett had barely finished drinking the potion when the woman mentioned her not being human and she paused . " What am I then ? Why do I not have any powers ? " The woman pulled out the necklace Scarlett was wearing . " It's because your parents left behind a necklace for you which locks your magic . Your adopted parents believed it was something you should have as a piece of your real parents . You're not just a Phoenix Scarlett , you're a Unix . A creature no one has heard of in centuries . A creature no one remembers because it's believed to be a myth . "

Scarlett was listening to the woman when she suddenly drifted off into a different realm . It looked like a place out of books , it was beautiful, surrounded in beautiful trees , the sky looked bright , birds sang in harmony .

She walked around the place and spotted a small cottage . She headed to the cottage and found a couple making food . They turned around and that's when Scarlett realised , it was the couple from the portrait which means ....They're her parents .

"Scarlett ?" said the woman with pain in her voice . " Is that really you ? " Her eyes were filled with tears while she spoke . What was this place ? How could she see her parents ? What was going on ?
