Chapter Five

I thought the jewelries I was adorned in was heavy enough to weigh me down until I saw what the other queens wore to the ceremonial function .There were eight queens in the hall with four each on my left hand side and right hand side . They were adorned in jewelries of their own style as some sat in style in order to make their presence known .

I got to know why kings sold off their daughters for power .It was through this practice that they could marry as many as they want and adorn their wives in riches to gain good name .It is said that "good name is better than riches " but I guessed it wasn't like that in their case because no matter how they adorned their wives in riches and wealth they would still remain the same ," heartless ,ruthless and disgusting " ,I thought forcing a smile on my face . They all had crowns worn but there was this exceptional crown that was worn by one of the queens .She was the same queen who had adorned herself with plenty jewelries and sat in a way to make her presence known .At that point ,I guessed she liked to show off a lot .There was no doubt she was pretty and could be in her thirties to forties . Honestly ,all the queens of King Duxan were really beautiful . He bought beautiful princesses with lots of treasures ,I thought as I looked at each of their faces .

The ceremony began with a royal breakfast where all the members of the royal family were seated to have their meals . I sat by King Duxan since I was the newly wedded bride .

When a new bride comes home ,all the queens of the king are suppose to feed her while she feeds the king as a part of their traditions .It meant that they had genuinely accepted me as their husband's wife and one of them .This way ,there would be no need for any of them to see me as their rival .

But I know for sure that this tradition was only to show off .One way or the other ,one of them must have already considered me a rival before I even arrived in their kingdom but that wasn't my concern because I was not having the intention of snatching their loving husband away from them ,I thought sarcastically .

The queens fed me gently and nicely except for the one with the exceptional crown who pushed the food into my mouth as if I had waged a war against her .She looked at me in a weird manner especially when our gazes met .

It was time for me to fulfill my part of the tradition by feeding King Duxan .I had no option other than to complete this tradition .Not because I wanted to but because I wanted to save myself from torture .I knew I could do nothing to defend myself from him in my father's home and now that I'm in his home ,anything can happen to me if I make an attempt to disobey him .

As at now ,taking Laura's advice would be the best option . If I want to get out of this mess ,then I must have some patience .It is said that ,"patience moves mountains ".

I fed King Duxan gently with my hands because he asked me to. He began to pass his hands around my waist which made really uncomfortable especially in front of everyone as well and I kept on tolerating and smiling at him .I didn't want history to repeat itself .No moment passes by without me recalling the slaps ,bruises and pain on my body .My wounds had not fully healed so I couldn't tolerate been tortured again .

After the royal breakfast ,it was time for my inauguration as queen .There was drumming and dancing all over and I was made to sit in a pool of milk with flowers sprinkled in it .All the eight queens of the king fetched milk and poured it on me indicating that if I continue to obey orders of the king ,then my life as a queen in Mugal would be flourishing .It also indicated that ,I have now broken all alliances with my kingdom and I have become the king's property .
