Back at the Grayson mansion, Elijah could not shake off the feeling of guilt that gnawed at him for not being able to keep the promise he had made to Mia. She was his best friend, the only other person he could share everything with apart from his family and Seraphina.
He recalled how happy Mia had been at the thought of spending a day out with him, she must have something exciting to tell him about but Elijah ended up ruining all of her plans. He was not able to forget the sad smile on her face that he saw before she left to meet up with her college friend.
Wanting to redeem his mistake, Elijah picked up his cell phone and quickly dialed Mia's number. She did not answer at first and Elijah grew worried thinking that he might have made her too upset so he kept on trying. He called her again, and then a third time. This time, she finally answered the call.
