Chapter 01

The city is always busy. Nobody is focused on their health as I noticed. It was quite interesting to watch them walk passing the old restaurant Nancy's as it always had smoke coming out telling everybody that they are back on track. Almost everybody stopped going to Nancy's with the economic revolution that put each and every human being in a tight spot. Nancy's had always been a great place to relieve the stress of the day.

Personally, I worked in a company where the employer had thousands of trophies for stressing out their employees. I knew that there wasn't any going back or going forward in my life with this job. I messed up in high school. So, I couldn't make it to a fancy job. But I was happy as I could make ends meet myself.

My name is Emeline. I lived alone at an apartment and this apartment was luxurious. My parents had a good income and they never forgot to save some for my future. Both my mother and father worked at first but when I was born my mother had to stop working to take care of me. It was not a problem as my father was doing good in his business. So, I ended up in a luxurious apartment. I lived in a city and everything was interesting there. As I mentioned the economic revolution made people lost the control of their lives. I still wonder where everything started going wrong.

Nobody sings lullabies to their enfants anymore. Nobody smiles with one another anymore. Nobody eats a healthy meal. Nobody helps the poor. Its complicated. Its not the same anymore. I loved the songs which I used to hear on my way to work. But I do not remember them anymore. It all far gone. So, I kept recalling those good old days.

But,

This morning I made my way to work as usual. But I knew that it wasn't usual some unusual feeling made me feel unusual. I do not know that feeling. I was curious to know.

I walked towards the traffic lights to cross the road and stood on the side of the road waiting for the lights to turn green. I looked around, I saw some trees and some birds too but it wasn't the same as it used to be. I look at the people on the other side, they were all just thinking about a way to end the day or to pass time. I felt that none of them were willing to go to work, it was exhausting.

Among those faces, I noticed a bright face. It was unusual. I had never seen such a face for a very long time. It gave me goosebumps as I was always wondering if there were at least one happy human being left on earth. I do not know what happened but I knew that I was laughing like a fool. I felt like I have found the one. He was the chosen one. A bunch of funny thoughts were flawing onto my brain.

When all these things were going on in my brain. Our eyes met for the first time. He smiled and I smiled back. A coincidence that made my heart flutter. It was a beautiful coincidence. I liked it very much. I liked this boy so much. His smile was extraordinary. And a shiny human being among this back and white fading crowd. That was a beautiful scenery.

Finally, the lights turned green!
