Chapter Twenty-Three
Ludwig sheaths both daggers as soon as Aviva calls for the fighting to end. Keiju from all bloodlines lay dead or dying, scattered across the camp. The five medics from all the camps quickly bring Keiju who still have a chance at survival away from where the five leaders, Edgar, and Ludwig stand, a tense silence building between them.
Eventually, the spy finds it in his best interest to break the silence.
"I would kill you myself, but I suppose you'd have one life left, so I won't."
He narrows his eyes at Aviva, who looks at him with a confused glance.
"Hm? What are you saying?"
Ludwig opens his mouth to reply, but closes it as someone else speaks in a surprising tone.
