I found myself staring at the old lady from a distance. On my way to the reception, I had grabbed a random book so that I would at least have a valid excuse to talk to her.

As if she caught a whiff of my stares, I saw her looking up at me as her fingers stopped moving over the keyboard. Unlike the last time, I didn't turn my eyes away. Instead, I covered the last few steps which were left in between me and the counter. All this while, I kept holding her gaze with mine as my lips slowly curled up in a polite smile.

"Excuse me!" A soft whisper left my lips as soon as I arrived at my destination.

"Hello! How can I help you?" The lady muttered out scornfully as she finally tore her gaze away from my beaming face.
