The old woman sighed and added, "Blanca must be found the soonest. Or—"

"Or what, Aya?" Elfar sounded alarmed and angry, as if he were accusing her of something. He didn't understand what she intended to say. "I thought she was with you in the little chamber."

"She was with me there in the Aya chamber; she even reached first carrying Danny with her, but she went out and never came back. I followed suit, but I didn't see her anymore. So I assumed she went ahead with the rest."

"You need to find her. The tunnel is evil. There are hundreds of people who have ventured there before and never come back. There was no sign of dead bodies or anything. I'm afraid she went further ahead to the southwest."

"What do you mean by that?" Elfar asked. He dreaded the idea of Blanca alone in that dark tunnel. She may be a vampire, but she hated an enclosure area.
