Chapter 13: Weak

Asa POV:

Asa awoke to Chris standing over him, his eyes heavy and his limbs deadweight.

Asa remembered taking off into the woods, their normal game starting before- something felt wrong.

Now Chris stood over him with an unreadable expression on his face, confusing Asa.

“What happened?” Asa asked, sitting up gingerly.

Chris outstretched his arms as if he were going to catch Asa but Asa pushed him away. He felt fine now, just a little tired.

“You tell me, we were running and you collapsed,” Chris spoke solemnly.

“I must have overdone it a bit,” Asa said with a shrug and Chris sighed.

“Asa, you didn’t just fall. You were unconscious,” Chris said, trying to impart how alarmed he felt.

Asa tried to wave it away.

The missing chunk of time alarmed Asa, but he feared that Chris would use this to impose some new draconian rule on him or tighten the reins.

Sure, it felt good to know that his Mate cared about him, but the extreme measures Chris took felt too harsh.
