Faith cut through the crowd quickly. Straight to the man in charge. I had to take a longer route through all the people. I couldn't just take the same route as her. There were just too many coin purses for my already rapid pulse to take.
She started discussing something with him in hushed tones. He seemed to be irritated by what she was saying but he wasn't turning her away or disagreeing. I finally got close enough to hear what she was saying.
".....Something has to change or those doors are going to fall," Faith waited for his response as she looked over to me.
Studying me carefully as she waited for him to respond. The sound of wood splinting as an ax cut into the doors silenced all voices in the hall.
"Please take your people down into the tunnels beneath this hall," Faith broke the silence, "I know a spell that can help turn the tide of this battle, but it's a forbidden magic so the less you know of the spell the better."
Spell my ass. I could feel rage flow through me in a torrent. That had been why she'd been studying me before. She was wondering if I would refuse to help. I knew how she would want me to help.
"What does this spell do?" he nodded to his men so they would start doing exactly as Faith had asked, "Well when used on someone strong of will they become a legendary beast for some time, and can fight as that beast."
It wasn't all that uncommon for common folk to hear of mages turning people into frogs, and such, but they didn't know the truthfully ridiculous amount of mana required to cast such spells. There was no way Faith could cast such a spell. She was planning on using me.
"What if they're weak of will?" Noble man asks.
"They loose themselves to the beast," Faith takes on a serious concerned look.
"You can't seriously be considering this," I snapped, "Transformation spells are painful. You are thinking of asking someone to go through torture."
"It's better than dying," Faith snapped her gaze on me.
Every bit the angry mage as her magic started to flow in her eyes. I held up my hands in a placating manner not wanting to anger her further right now. She still had my secret, and she could very easily have just told the noble man. I didn't want her blurting anything out during some misplaced rage.
