Just like the old days

"You are engaged?!" Marianne asked, almost finding it hard to believe that the children were engaged. It was not so long ago that they left them and now they are engaged, it was quite fast but good.

"Mhm," Melody hummed and smiled. She linked her fingers with those of Damian. "Although I anticipated it, it was still a surprise to me," she looked at Damian who raised a brow when she said she anticipated it. "It's true, I did anticipate it happening soon but not after taking so many detours, it threw me off."

"If you say so," he relented.

Marianne and Sandra just watched with smiles. It was amazing how seeing Melody happy had almost shed tears of joy. "Damian dear," Marianne called and took his hand, clasped in within hers. "I am thankful to you for making her happy, for keeping the smile on her face."

Melody stopped smiling suddenly feeling awkward now that they were talking like this. She looked down at her hands, suddenly interested in her manicure.
