Chapter 12

I don't know how I will feel. I think our parents went far with this arranged marriage and why Mateo agreed even though he has a spouse.

That's not right.

Was business more important than love or was he most likely doing what his parents want?

I walked away and I didn't understand what Mom said, but I heard a bit. She said that dinner was ready, but I ignored it.

I went straight to my room with a simple design with lamp clouds and I lit the center of the ceiling flashing me with miniature stars.

I don't know why I was feeling so guilty that I or if we've done something like that.

'I can't stay like this I probably have to loosen up.'

My training as his secretary will start a few days from now, so I don't have to think about this again.

But how?

"This should work, common Jurelle, pick it up," I said to myself as I sat on my bed.

It takes a few seconds for her to answer, and I'm getting impatient because I want to go out now.

"Hello, girl?" She says with something sounds in the background, as if they are in a bar.

"Where are you? Are you with Joanna?"

"Wait, I can't hear you. One minute." Jurelle said and walked away again from where she was.

While Jurelle was doing that, I went to my closet to pick some clothes.

"What did you say?" She asked.

"Where are you? And if Joanna is with you." I said to her on the other line while looking at a dress to wear.

"Joanna is with me and we are here at Resto Bar, 3 blocks from your husband's company building."

"What's wrong?" She added.

"There's no problem; I was about to invite you to the bar and eventually you're already there."

I put my phone on the loudspeaker so I could talk to her while I changed into my chosen clothes.

"Okay, message me when you're close, we'll pick you up at the entrance there are quite a lot of people".

"and oh! Bring your glasses, because who knows what else people will think when they see you here? Bye!"

Jurelle ended the call, and I didn't answer. I looked at the clock and it was already 10 p.m. Thankfully, there was no curfew for us.

When I got my fitted dress with a spaghetti strap design on the back and a pair of high-heeled sandals, I was ready to go.

I asked Denise our guard in charge of the gate and I didn't use the car that Mateo gave me, I used Mom's car.

I don't know a bit of habit that, I don't use what the person gave me, especially when I feel some sort of distance from them.

After I arrived at the Resto Bar, I sent a message to Jurelle saying that I was in the front of the bar, the sunglasses I was wearing were clear, the black was too suspicious, and who knows the butler might wouldn't let me in.

"You're Chantal Miller, right?" A man asked me.

I didn't know it, but he flashed me with his gray messy hair, blue eyes, and fair skin.

But I shouldn't be shaken, but I think that's fine. We are sort of married just through papers anyway.

"Have we met before? If yes, I don't think I caught your name."

"I'm Lucas Dwanson. You, Jurelle, and I were your classmates back in college." He said as he held out his hand and I reached for it.

"Is that you Lucas, you've changed a lot," I said in disbelief as I smiled at him.

"Nice to meet you again." I laughed once. "Lucas."

"The pleasure is mine." He said it and kissed my hand.

I don't know why I went with him when I was supposed to meet my Jurelle here. I had a chance to leave him, he suddenly invited me inside.

"You go ahead." I stopped him and pulled out his hand that was on my waist.

He was surprised at what I did and put both his hands in his pocket.

"Why are you waiting for someone? I thought you were alone." He said, referring to the distance we had earlier and distance himself.

I'm glad he noticed.

"Jurelle and my friend said they would pick me up out here," I said while looking inside while I'm at the main entrance.

"Oh, they are here too! We can wait." He said and flashed a gorgeous smile.

I was surprised that someone held me and turned out to be Jurelle.

"I'm sorry I'm a bit late. Joanna and I were dramatizing—" she was interrupted when she turned her gaze at the person beside me.

"Lucas!!!!!!" Jurelle said in a shrill voice that made me laugh, and she looked at me.

"Same, I didn't know he is here either. He turned into a fine young man." I said.

After exchanging regards we finally went inside. This was a fresh start. Forgetting what I'd learned earlier.

When we got in, Jurelle was right, there were so many people. Everyone was hyped up. It was Monday, but the people looked burned out. When we got to the table, I noticed that Joanna was not there.

"I'm also looking for her, you know, even before she used to suddenly go to another table," said Jurelle.

"I'll leave you first," Jurelle told us and left.

I ordered a cocktail to start with, and Lucas ordered a beer. We were talking about what happened way back in college.

"But the serious contact lenses suit you better and now no more thick glasses."

"Yes, luckily I was poured with some money."

We both laughed and seemed tipsy and the two hadn't returned yet.

"I upgraded the look because I wanted to impress you." He was said with one hand on my shoulder.

"Really? Even if you don't look like that, I'll be impressed by you, because you're so good at academies." I told him.

Then he suddenly pulled me into a hug.

"I know you're married, but once the deal of your marriage is off, can you be mine?" He said in a solemn tone as he stated.

"How did you know—" I said between our hugs.

Lucas gave space to our hug and his face was starting to come closer, I don't know why I turned a blind eye and close my eyes.

I know this was wrong but who cares, I felt the man was no longer in front of me and when I opened my eyes, I saw Lucas on the floor with blood on his lower lip...
