Surviving In Another Apocalyptic World

The world started behaving negatively to its inhabitants when Lazy Wafula was born. There were ads everywhere, reminding people about the end of the world now and then.

No body knew who sponsored the appearance of those ads. The ads were in every app of every person's phone, PCs, TVs, hard discs and every electronic gadgets. It didn't matter whether you paid for "no ads" in your gadget as these ads will always appear there as if they were a malware feeding on your gadget. These ads not only took over the advertisement space in the technological world, but they also appeared on big bill boards, newspapers, magazines and all your favorite books that you will find.

At first, the Earthlings raised concerns, protests and everything they can do to make the people in the leadership positions to get these ads out of their gadgets because these ads were now getting on their nerves but every leader would just say that they were still working on it or that their hands are tied - they were helpless in this situation. After some time, people got used to those ads and just took it as part of their lives but they can not help but wonder.

The message that those ads delivered was not good to their eyes and ears. No body wanted to see them or hear them because they added to their frustrations and depression especially to the overly rich population.

The message that those ads delivered was the message about the end of the world, the message of destructive - the armageddon.

Genesis, that was the program that controlled this message. It showed the number of years and days that the Earthlings had remained with before their end. But this message also had some hope in it, it said that the strong people who will survive till the end of the world - that is when the Genesis countdown turns to zero, those people will get a chance to be migrated to the second life. The message didn't talk about those people who will fail, what will happen to them and the like.

The inhabitants were all quivering, businesses were the most affected as the profits plummeted, the level of production went down in the entire world. People were frustrated and they were losing hope just because of that message but after some time, the tumult among the people receded because they didn't see anything strange happening, they even started thinking that the message was utterly a joke.

When Lazy Wafula reached the age of five, that was just fifteen years remaining for the world to end as depicted by Genesis - this was the moment that chaos started all over the world. Earth was no longer a habitable planet, but what can they do? Many viruses with no core sprouted everywhere now and then which almost halved the population of the world. It was total chaos, people who remained after the disaster were so devastated that they started doing their own things whether it was against the law or not, they just did it. No body cared as the enforcers of law was no more.

They didn't care about their lives as even some of the people with weak minds decided to commit suicide to get themselves out of this torture. Lazy Wafula at this moment also lost his parents and thus he became a wanderer on the streets just to feed himself and continue living. He was just thankful that he was among the survivors left after those diseases swept the entire planet of the "unwanted souls."

The knock out stages continued and many people were "disqualified" from this game. Right now, Lazy Wafula had reached fifteen years, that was just five more years to the end of the world. The population of the world had plummeted to just a few millions from the previous population of billions of people. At this moment something happened that made the people go crazy with confusion and puzzlement.

You should know that all the people who had successfully reached at this stage were only those with strong wills and with the strong heart of wanting to live. These people had not yet lost hope, as they say, when there is life there is still hope.

At this moment, every living person obtained a simple system, though these people would usually cast a glance from time to time at their AI gadgets to see the remaining time to the end of the world. No body among the remaining population wanted to die, they were adamant on staying till the end to see what this next life that they had been promised will look like.

The system that these people received was one that showed their attribute and how they can use the advantage of this attribute to survive to the end. It seemed that the people behind this Genesis thingy didn't want to lose these surviving souls so, they gave them a helper which was the system. The system was just an impalpable interface that will show up in front of the eyes of every survivor when willed.

At the age of eighteen years, Lazy Wafula had grown to become a man. Though when someone sees him right now, they will not accept that he was a youngling of eighteen years, this was because of the development of his body to the adaptation of the ever changing environment. The kid who was just an innocent, charming and adorable little person had now changed to become a person who was hardened like steel. His expression was always cold, he had never laughed or smiled since he turned seventeen. He had watched gruesome sights of people close to him dying in front of his very eyes which he had now become used to it in that he had thus accepted the outcome about everything. To a person like him who was born in this chaos and he had also never enjoyed how it felt like to have parents or intimate relations with a woman, to him, this world was just the same as always even though many of his temporary friends will refuse to accept reality.

He had made many friends until he had become tired of it because those friends of his would die on the way because they had failed to hold on. People give up as always, no body will like to live a life like this one where their lives are hanging on a thin thread. They will persevere for some time hoping that this difficult situation will end one day but the waiting was so torturing to their souls in that they decide that enough is enough, no more. With a dispirited heart like that one, no one will survive in this selection to the end.

Not many people had strong wills like that one of Lazy Wafula. The few like Lazy Wafula were rewarded by an upgrade to their system but this didn't come with a positive outcome, it just meant an added responsibility. Lazy for example was given a quest to take care of a child named Queen Nakhumicha. He had to take care of this child till the end of the survival selections(Genesis). If the child dies, then he would have failed to get a chance for the next life and just like others, he will be discarded as a failure. For failures, there is only death in front of them especially when the system had been taken away from them because they had failed the quest.

Like a soldier Lazy Wafula managed to survive until he reached twenty years, that was when all the people who had survived until this time were given a mark of assurance. This survival mark was just a resemblance of the eye of Horus. It appeared on their foreheads just above their eyes. This mark came with an added power buffs to enable the survivors to survive till the end of this last year of selections. This mark didn't mean that they will not die, if they failed their quests or meet a mishap, then it would be the end of them even if they had survived til this time.

The weak died and the strong who had perfectly adapted to the new way of life lived. It was a cruel world.

Firstly, you should know that federal republics came in to existance a long time ago, basically around the year 2200. Nairobi was no longer a capital of Kenya but it was merely one of the base cities of African federation under a single government. Other continents were definitely the same as Africa, they were ruled by federal governments, the primeval countries no longer existed.

Somewhere in Nairobi the year 2788, two men crawled out of the sewer while covered in both blood and putrid filth. Both of them were indifferent about their situation and they didn't even care to rub off the waste on their skin. One of the men was carrying a five year old girl who was tied on his back by a baby carrier. The girl was trying to rub off the putrid waste on her face though the waste was not much on her as compared to the other two men as it seemed like the man who had carried her was keen about her welfare than his. This man was cold and he was also watchful, even until now after they got out of the sewer, he was still watching his surroundings not daring to miss a thing.

This man with a child on his back was of course Lazy Wafula. He had an average height and body size which was curved with protruding muscles. His chest which was bare as it seemed like he had removed his shirt when he was approaching the exit of the sewer so that he can at least reduce the stinky waste on him. His chest was protruding and heavy while his abdomen was covered with eight packs. From this, we can clearly see that he had gone through enough difficulties which had transmogrified his body to adapt with the situation. His dreadlocks were tied in to a ponytail.

The girl whom he had carried on his back, Queen Nakhumicha, was a chivalrous kid who didn't even care about what was happening in this world as if she doesn't belong in this place. She never falter in the face of danger and she will even sneer disdainfully at those people who had given up hope when it was almost time to finish this survival game. The other man on the other hand was a contrast of Lazy Wafula, he was an Asian guy who was a bulky fellow with a potbelly. He was a man who luck follows everywhere he goes. Even his surviving until this time was only due to pure luck. Actually, just like Lazy Wafula, he was also among the people selected for an upgrade of their system, the quest which he was given Lazy didn't knew that and he didn't even care to know it.

To Lazy, this guy was only a friend, it was a surprise that this guy had lasted for a long time. He was the person whom Lazy had spent time with for a long time as for others, they were six feet under. Master Chen, that was his name. Before this Genesis thingy came, Master Chen was among the richest people in the African federation and he enjoyed a life of luxury but at this moment, he had been reduced to this. Moving around in sewers, he would never have thought of doing such a thing in the past but the situation had forced him.

"How many hours have remained to end this sh*t!" Master Chen asked Lazy Wafula with a displeased look.

Lazy didn't answer him right away, he first got out his AI tablet which had also been soaked in the sewer but these futuristic phones were resilient, something like soaking in water can not destroy them.
