*BANG BANG BANG*

"Harry Potter! Where's the breakfast?! Are you not awake yet?"

I woke up in a daze from the sudden banging. As I tried to sit up and adjust to my surroundings, I heard the someone shouting again from the other side of the door.

"WAKE UP! How many times do I have to call you!?" The person shouted again as he shuffled away.

The door seems to be just beside me.

"I'm coming!", I replied out of habit as I struggled to get out of bed.

Where am I? Where is the light switch? Why is the ceiling so low and the space so cramped? Is this the Cupboard under the stairs like in Harry Potter? I smiled at that ridiculous thought. But as I tried to recall where I was, I realised I couldn't think of anything.

I fumbled and tried to unlock the door that was just an arm's reach from my bed. Turns out it was just a simple latch. As I opened the door, I realised I was in an ordinary house. Light flooded into the cramped space I was just in and I saw my living conditions. Oof, talk about tiny house...

Before I could investigate further, I heard the familiar voice again in the next room, "HARRY POTTER!!!"

Me? Harry Potter? How? I pointed to myself and asked in a whisper. I made my way towards the voice into the kitchen.

"Make breakfast, boy! Hurry up!" The man said as he started to read his newspaper.

This must be the uncle, I thought. I saw some eggs beside the pan and proceeded to make an omelette. Weird, why am I in Harry Potter... Why am I cooking eggs? And five eggs at once? I tried to recall how I got into this situation as the omelette started to solidify.

*Gasp* I remembered falling asleep after watching the news last night, USA and China seemed to be threatening to send nuclear warheads at each other over Taiwan. Did that really happen? Did I die during my sleep in the resulting nuclear war? Why am I here then?

The eggs finished cooking as I continued to ponder. Plating them, I proceeded to give them to man. "Anything else? Uncle Vernon...?" I asked hesitantly.

"No, go away now, don't disturb me!" He replied.

That gave me some time to think as I went back to my "room" and took a look around. Finally finding the light switch, I saw the rest of the room. Nothing much, huh. Well, what did I expect. Anyways, why am I here? Can I get back? Hmm, no real reason to go back though, I recalled how I was just a normal working class dude with a 9 to 5 job. No family, maybe some online friends?

I guess I'm here now, what I should be doing is to plan out what I should do in the future. Recalling the bits and pieces from watching the Harry Potter movies, I realised that I had to suffer through so much drama just to be safe. Man, this world is dangerous, do I have to fight the Voldermort? Wait, what I should do is to first prevent my uncle from taking away the Hogwarts letter.

Right on cue, the day's post arrived as they fell through the door. I quickly walked towards them and saw the letters. Ah, there it was, 'To Mr H Potter, The Cupboard under the stairs'. I stuffed the letter into my room as I made my way to the kitchen.

"Mail is here!" I called out to Uncle Vernon and I went back to my cupboard. It's a good thing the aunt and the cousin weren't around.

I opened the letter after closing the door.

"Dear Mr Potter, ..." blah blah blah, same content as the movie, invited to Hogwarts, list of items to buy... Err, do I have to wait for Hagrid to come? I mean, what do they expect me to do? Hmm, how do I reply to the letter without an owl? I probably should have read the book ...

Well, maybe I can find Diagon Alley by myself?

Anyways, where is my system or bonus or something? Shouldn't I, as a transmigrator, have some specialty to survive in this world?
