For his entire life, Rian worked to prove his worth.
Given up by family and passed around through the foster system, after becoming a legal adult, he enlisted in the military. Demonstrating his capabilities, his skill and competency enabled him to become a member of an exclusive elite team.
Although his accomplishments were many, the failings of his life caught up with him. Love lost, no real connections—even amongst his brothers in arms—he felt isolated and estranged. Yet one thing helped him cope.
Atmas Rise
A controversial game born from a simulation. Its origins convoluted, its technology unprecedented, and its effect on the world absolute.
Inside he could be what he wanted, do what he wanted, have what he wanted, with no expectations.
Yet this, too, would not save him—depression, trauma, self-loathing, Rian gave up. His last night was one of despair and loneliness.
Follow Rian as he discovers secrets and hidden truths of the world he once walked as a game, becoming his new reality.

This is my first published work of fiction. I am a writer and editor by trade, yet I find this 1000% more difficult. So bear with me as I catch my stride and find my style. I hope you enjoy the story.
