NEW BOY

Sobs....sobs, she quietly made her way to the kitchen. Tears clouding her vision, she could faintly make out a figure sleeping soundly on the couch. She smiled lightly, it was not a happy smile, rather it was one filled with sadness. That person was sleeping soundly, while she was so miserable. The person that made her like this was sleeping so soundly and yet here she was slowly dying inside. She laughed quietly, soon that person would know what pain and despair felt like. She weakly continued towards the kitchen. It was dark and she didn't want to put on the lights so as not to alert that person of what she was doing. The kitchen was small and she knew her way around anyway. So she quietly but surely walked towards where the utensils were kept. Using her hands to feel around as quietly as possible, she soon felt the coldness of the blade brush her fingers, she shivered. She picked up the knife and slowly made her way out of the kitchen and straight to her room not sparing the sleeping figure on the couch a glance.

Once in her room, she locked the door and picked up her phone, full of expectations. But she soon threw the phone down as she laughed in contempt, 'What was she expecting? Truly there was no one who cared about her' She laughed again until she broke down in sobs. She cried her eyes out for a while. After some time, she stood up and wiped her tears, holding the knife resolutely in her hands.

'Yes she would end it all today'. She held the knife away from her, aiming for her stomach. She took a deep breath and plunged the knife.

Darkness.

Tiana's POV

'Wow... you look beautiful today', 'Nice shoes', 'I love your hair', 'You look gorgeous'.

I smiled at all the compliments as I walked down the halls. It wasn't anything strange for me as I casually made my way to my locker. I had just arrived at my locker when,

"Tee!", someone called. I turned and found Chester. He was a nerd but also genius in algebra. He ran to me. I flashed him one of my brilliant smiles and he stood staring at me like a lovesick puppy. I smirked inwardly.

"So, Tee..", he started awkwardly. "I heard you got a top score in the algebra test?"

"Oh yeah, And it's all thanks to you. If you hadn't taken out time to tutor me I never would have. Thank you so much", I thanked him and smiled more brilliantly at him. He blushed and replied in a low voice, "It's nothing". I beamed at him and turned back to my locker when I heard him say, "Well... uhm.. are you free this weekend?"

"This weekend?", I asked with raised brows. He looked up at me and replied in a slightly more confident tone, "Uhm.. yeah. I was hoping we could get a burger and maybe ha..hang out?"

I scoffed inwardly and asked, "A date?" He seemed startled by my straight forwardness and nodded shyly while fiddling with his hands nervously. I gave him a once over. Honestly, Chester wasn't that bad. He was certainly more than average in the looks department, he was also really smart and gentle. He was most girl's ideal type but not mine. With a smile I replied, "No". He looked disappointed but he quickly masked it up with a smile and continued,

"You aren't free this weekend? That's cool, we could hang out next weekend or another time...."

"No", I cut him short and shook my head.

"I won't go on a date with you.... Never".

"What? Why?", he asked dumbfounded.

"You are not my type", I replied leisurely.

He looked confused and said,

"But...but you told me I was exactly like your type and even kissed my cheek", he sounded really hurt.

"I did?", I asked him. He stared at me surprised. Then it came to me... I had indeed said and done all that when he was tutoring me but I was only having some fun and I didn't actually mean it. I looked at him and laughed inside me. 'What a fool', I thought, 'He really believed that?"

"Oh well maybe I wasn't thinking right at that time or you were my type then but not now, sorry", I said casually.

He looked at me in disbelief. I ignored him and turned my attention back to my locker. He finally walked away, hurt no doubt. I turned to look at his retreating figure. 'Tsk tsk', 'How could he just believe what I said like that?' I didn't feel bad because that wasn't the first lie I told a boy anyways, I smiled to myself. I nonchalantly turned back, automatically pushing everything that had happened to the back of my mind like nothing had ever happened.

My name is Tiana Almirez and I am a playgirl.

"Tee!", someone else called, I turned to see my two best friends walking towards me; Grace and Stephanie.

"Hey girls. What's up?", I asked as I put in my combination for my locker.

"Not much. But hey we just saw Chester on our way here and he looked like a wreck", Stephanie said.

"Oh really?", I asked nonchalantly.

"Yeah.. And I was wondering... that wouldn't have anything to do with you, would it?", she asked curiously.

"What makes you think it has anything to do with me?", I asked casually as I took out my books.

"Because he looked like he just had his heart broken ruthlessly? And the only person I know who is famous for breaking boys' hearts without mercy is you", she said with a mischievous smile.

"Ah", I sighed as I shut my locker. "What to do? It seems my reputation is beginning to precede me", I lamented as I feigned a helpless look. Stephanie giggled while Grace merely rolled her eyes.

"So, what happened?", Steph asked excitedly, as the three of us walked down.

"Well, he asked me out on a date"

"What?", Steph asked in surprise. "Who knew our human calculator, Chester was that bold huh?"

"Yeah.. I was kinda surprised. He even mentioned the time when he was tutoring me and I flirted with him a little for fun. I think he took my flirting seriously", I scoffed.

"What?", Steph laughed. "Doesn't he know who you are? And what you do?" I smiled.

"No, I don't think he was informed", I replied and we both burst out laughing. Grace who had been quiet ever since frowned at us and said,

"I really don't understand you, why would you flirt with a boy and give him hope when you aren't really interested in him?"

And that is typical Grace. She's the 'good one' amongst us. She had a calm, gentle personality, she is reserved and although she was a little bossy she is quite intelligent. Did I mention she is a complete beauty Queen? At a slightly tall height. She had well developed hips and boobs. Her face was symmetrical and she had a pointed nose. Most of the guys in school were attracted to her but unfortunately she wasn't interested. She and I are as different as sun and rain but yet we had been friends for quite a long time.

"And why wouldn't she?", Steph retorted. Stephanie was more my style. She was outgoing, bubbly and a mood maker. We had known each other for shorter than I and Grace had but we were very close.

"Ah guys please don't fight. Please, for God's sake it's a new day and I don't want to start my day with your bickering ok?", I pleaded.

"I wasn't fighting with her", Steph defended with a huff.

"Yeah, like fighting with you is such a great thing?", Grace asked lazily.

"What? What do you mean?", Steph asked starting to get angry.

"Nothing", Grace nonchalantly replied and looked at me before saying, "I'm off"

"Ok", I replied. She waved me and left without sparing Steph who was already fuming with anger a glance.

"Hey! Come back here! Come back here and say what you meant!", she called after her in anger. But Grace didn't turn back she just kept walking like she couldn't hear her.

"Woah! I can't believe her!", she fumed. I shook my head and patted her, "Hey it's okay. Calm down" She simply huffed. "I'll go on now. I've got English first period", I told her.

"Ok, See you during lunch?", she replied.

"Yeah, see you", I said and walked away. I got to English class and walked in. I was fairly early but the teacher, Mr. Lincoln was already in class.

"Good morning, Mr. Lincoln", I greeted. He looked up at me and beamed before replying, "Why, Good morning Ms. Almirez. I trust your weekend was good?"

"Yes Mr. Lincoln"

"Good, good take a seat we'll start shortly." I smiled at him and walked up to my seat. Shortly after students started trooping in. Connie, a girl with quite a lively personality sat next to me. I actually quite liked Connie, she wasn't the boring type and I liked it. Soon the lesson started. Halfway through the lesson the Principal walked in and asked for Mr. Lincoln's attention. Mr. Lincoln soon came back with a boy following on his heels. The boy whom introduced himself as Lucas, was the perfect definition of handsome. He was really good looking that all the girls in the class immediately swooned over him. But not me. He didn't have any special effect on me as I had seen my fair share of good looking guys. He was a transfer student and honestly he seemed a bit too cocky. As I stared at him our eyes met and he... wait did he just wink at me?! I immediately averted my eyes and I'm pretty sure I saw him smirk. 'Aish what a douchebag', I thought. The lesson soon resumed and I payed no more attention to the transfer student. Little did I know that the appearance of Lucas would change a lot of things in my life.
