Chapter 1: Nightmares
"Emily run!!! Run as fast as you can!" two different voices that sounded scared screamed at their child in the middle of an ongoing war.
"Daddy!!!! Mama!!!!!" the innocent voice cried in fright as she tried to escape with her little legs.
But she couldn't because the moment she turned back, she got overwhelmed by the huge legs that were after her and were already close to her. Her eyes widened with her mouth very open as she wished she could be safe. She turned around and saw countless bodies on the floor. She could recognize their faces. These men were the guards that had always been protecting her but who were these intruders? She asked in her brain as she got grabbed. She looked above and saw her parents already frightened and they stretched their hands but couldn't get to her because they were being held captive. Her tears poured as she stretched her little hands, hoping they'd get to her parents as the strange men threw her inside their colored vehicle and zoomed off.
Emily felt her world crash as she had to struggle beneath these strange men and wondered why they were doing all that and where she would end up. She begged them not to take her away, screaming and crying until she jumped out of her bed.
Shit!
She had that dream again. Already grown Emily sat on her bed in the middle of the night as she looked at the ceiling, the floor, and the little bed she was on to ensure she was still sleeping in the same room where she had slept off.
She had not stopped having that dream. When would she though? She packed her already rough hair and stood up as she walked to the little window to peep and see if anything was going wrong downstairs. Being met with darkness, she could tell it was still the middle of the night, so she went back to bed and folded her body. She couldn't sleep anymore and she knew it.
What had changed? Who were those men and who sent them? We're her parents still alive? Did they successfully destroy her home?
All these questions were on her mind and she felt her heart in pain again as the traces of tears got filled with fresh ones again. Clutching her little pillow tight, she squeezed her body the more as she tried to silently cough out. Her tears already choking her.
Emily saw herself swimming in a pool as she turned and jumped but little did she know what was on. Not until she felt a heavy splash on her body did she jump out of her bed with a loud scream and realize that she wasn't actually dreaming.
She turned around and looked up only to see her worst nightmare above her head, glaring at her with the urge to end her right there. "G..good morning alpha Thomas," she whispered as she shifted backward and placed her eyes on the floor.
"There is nothing good about your morning so bad morning to you. You keep waking up late. Do you think this is that dump you were being brought out from?"
"I never lived in a dump. I have a home. Take me back ho..."
PAK!!!
She couldn't complete her statement when she felt a thunderous slap on her face and she became dumb unable to speak at the moment and felt that her ears were gone. The tears she had tried hard to keep then made their way out as she looked at the young man who was treating her so poorly.
Wasn't he supposed to be kind? She thought to herself as she wondered why had grown up to be so mean. Why does he hate her without a reason? Or do people inherit hatred? She didn't have any other way to think about it than that way. She remembered the day he had just returned from abroad. On seeing her for the first time, he smiled thinking he got a new playmate but on seeing how she was being treated in the next second, he joined the queue and mistreated her for fun.
"You never lived in a dump? How then are you a filthy slave in my land? I rule here so anyone under my authority is a slave automatically." he groaned.
"You treat only me this way. You have lots of slaves already but why is mine different? We should all be treated equally right, but I don't see a sign of other omegas moving around with wonder cheeks and strands of tears every day." she said as she tried to stand up and looked at him. Looking at him, she could only see a heartless statue and wished she could break it but she was too powerless to attempt it.
"I hate your guts. You talk like you ball the shots here. Stop trying to question my authority or your life may be cut short." he said to her as he led her neck. In a few seconds, he pulled back as he remembered his father's words.
"Do all you can and want to your satisfaction but don't touch her life." the voice rang in his head and he passed her hard, causing her to fall on the bed without help.
"You are lucky I don't want to hurt you but I tell you, I could still break you and bury you if you aren't careful enough," he told her and walked out of the little store he made her stay after his father had died.
Emily watched him hopelessly as he walked away. She used her hands to clean up her tears and looked down at the little mattress that looked damaged already. Picking up the torn blanket, she placed it in a bucket inside the little storeroom and attempted to carry the already-soaked bed out of the room when she accidentally slipped. Her head got slammed on the hard floor and she went unconscious.
