Jael's Return

Diary,

I spent hours sobbing and reflecting in a corner of the room. Literally everyone was in a corner, lost in their world of thoughts- the silence was almost tangible. I could feel this weakness that I couldn't explain. I was too weak to talk, to pray or to even stand. I was more or less, a 'dead' person due to how long I had stayed limp and motionless in my corner.

"...I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever I will sing of the mercies of the Lord..." Lissa's solemn voice came, interrupting my thoughts.

"So I can shout hallelujah, I can shout hallelujah, I can shout, praise the Lord!" Anaia sang. Before i knew it, they were all singing. Tony, Ray, Lissa and Anaia- I was surprised but slowly joined them. Soon, I felt a surge of new strength and hope from within and a new sense of direction as I sang from the depths of my heart. This made me remember Job.

After losing everything he had, he still worshipped God! And here I was, in a similar situation, with no reason to worship but I sang like never before. As we kept singing and clapping, we began to move about the room, with a renewed hope. I could see the joyful look on the faces of my friends. They faces radiated a beautiful glow- it was almost ethereal! It was like an inner light shone through them. We sang and praised like there was no tomorrow.

Soon, the door flung open and an angry looking, disheveled Dany stood outside, panting heavily, an evil glint in her eyes.

"Stop this instant!" She screamed.

Guess what?

We continued singing- louder. We danced and danced the more until we heard a loud gunshot, followed by a scream. Dany shot at Lissa but she dodged it on time and the bullet entered through the wall!

"No one dares me!" Dany screamed like a mad person. We all stood quietly as she paced back and forth before us.

"You have pushed too far! Who do you think you are? And what do you think you can achieve with all this noise you're making, huh?!" She asked, gesticulating wildly.

"What do you want?" Tony asked, his voice firm and unwavering.

"You have a visitor. " she said in a more composed way, looking directly at me as I frowned in confusion.

"What visitor?" Lissa asked.

"Come with me." She said, turned around and strutted down the corridor as we all walked in a single file behind her. We saw some people in black gowns and red robes around their shoulder with their tattoos, rings and bracelets in full display. Everyone seemed to be in a hurry. We all exchanged confused looks as Anaia whispered to the rest of us.

"Remain calm, it's going to be okay. Be alert and prayerful. I feel something big's coming." She said as I nodded and started praying under my breath. As we kept walking, I would look around and keep praying, with a deeper sense of concentration. Soon, we reached an elevator. We all entered it and Dany suddenly shot Ray an irritated look.

"Stop that!" She snapped at him.

Ray's voice was getting louder and it irked Dany.

"I wonder what's making them so hopeful. If only they knew what was coming for them." She muttered to herself but I was close enough to hear her and I kept asking God for strength.

Lord, help us. Deliver us from every evil she's planning.

We soon got out of the elevator and was taken into a dimly lit room with only one bulb. It looked like an interrogation room but what I saw almost made me faint with shock.

"Mum? Mum!" I screamed and was about to run to her when a guard roughly pulled me back. There she sat, hands tied behind her, her hair disheveled and her clothes tattered. She looked up at me, her eyes puffy and her face red. She had a cut on the side of her lip...she was almost unrecognizable. Soon, I heard a sinister chuckle from the shadows and Kyros walked out, looking very satisfied. He had a wicked grin on his face as I heard a gasp beside me- Lissa.

Before anyone could react, Ray lunged at Kyros, hitting him hard in his stomach as guards held him back and Kyros cussed violently. Ray thrashed about, yelling and calling God frantically before a guard knocked him out.

"Noo!" We screamed, running to his side.
