Chapter 1:The gossip
In a beautiful morning,birds are heard singing in their melodious tone,women are seen in a hurry to go to the market while the men to their working place,the young girls seen chatting as they walk to the stream with their pot
"Guess what my friend "Kate said as the other girls turn to look at her .
"Kate ,tell us what you have to say and stop the guess what "Favour said feeling irritated already .
"Okay before you finish me ,have u heard that Frances has been seeing Mira secretly and she kept it a secret "Kate said as the other girls look at each other
"Kate ,that so unfair,how could you say such about our friend ,Mira can't do that ,I don't believe you "Jamie said
"If you think I am lying why did she all of a sudden stop coming to the moonlight play at night "Kate said trying to make them see sense in what she was saying.
"I think Kate is right cos I saw her waiting for someone yesterday and she told me she was waiting for someone I didn't bother cos I was thinking it was her mom ,not until I saw her who told me she sent Mira to get something at the market,then I begin to wonder who she was actually waiting for but I swing it out of my mind cos I got a lot of things to think of" Favour said
"If that is it ,I pray that strange boy is not playing her or don't u think he has already been sexing her who knows......(interrupted by Jamie)
"Common shut up ,you have never said something good in your life ,we only suspected her and you are already jumping into a bad conclusion,do u think she is as stupid as you,hell no she is not,now I see why she has refused to tell it to us ,it because of someone like you comfort "Jamie said angrily
"Hey Jamie it hasn't gotten to the point we insult ourselves,though what comfort said is wrong but you shouldn't have called her stupid,we are friends for cry out lot"Kate said
"I'm sorry ,I was annoyed cos I didn't expect you to say that " Jamie apologized
"Apology accepted,I am also sorry,I shouldn't have said those harsh words Mira is also our friend "comfort said
" well ,when you all are done with your gossip let me know besides I'm off "Favour said as she walk out majestically
"Who the hell is this ,sorry it doesn't suit you "Kate said as they all laugh
"Her legs like that of a hen suffering from malnutrition "Jamie said as everyone laughs
"Thanks,I love my legs the way it is ,God knows what suits me well that why he gave me such legs "Favour said
"Hey,hey ,don't blame God blame that your so called teacher for always flogging your legs knowing it isn't strong enough,that man is so wicked and I've always pitted you "comfort said laughing
