••• Charlotte’s POV •••
I could only watch in horror as Hayden staggered back and his foot slipped from the edge of the cliff, sending him tumbling down.
One second he was still standing in front of me clutching his injured shoulder, and the next second he was gone from my view.
“Hayden!” I screamed again and crawled toward the edge of the cliff to see his figure getting smaller and smaller.
“Lottie…” I heard his voice through our mind link. “I’m sorry, Lottie. I’m sorry for everything. I’m sorry for everything my family has done to you. I’m sorry for everything I have done to you. I’m sorry for not cherishing you.”
“Hayden… No…” I shook my head, and my tears gushed down from my eyes.
“I now know how you feel when you fall off the cliff," his voice continued sounding through our mindlink. "I’m sorry, Lottie. I love you…”
And then there was silence.
"Hay...den?"
I couldn't believe it...
I didn't want to believe it.
"No, no, no." I shook my head in denial.
