Not every wolf meets their mate and lives 'happily ever after', so what happens to the ones who don't? Annie has lived in the human world for 20 years or so creating a good life for herself. By chance at a family wedding she meets Hugh, a wolf from the fearsome Reiver Pack who hail from the Highlands of Scotland. After a shaky start their relationship goes from strength to strength until Hugh's dealings with Edinburgh's criminal underbelly puts Annie's life in danger.
