Reincarnation; The Tale of Anansi

Reincarnated to gain karma, read as the protagonist's story unfolds... ..... I am writing this story as I go, and fyi, I have never written a story before. Don't expect me to be very consistent, I am not even an author, I'm bored and somehow was just imagining things. Now here I am, typing what comes to my head. *The cover is not mine, typical stuff* Bye:)

The Process

Pain.

The pain was so unbearable that within a few seconds of agony my mind went numb. When it stabilized I was no longer feeling pain, but then I realized the situation. 'I'm not going to survive aren't I', that was the first thought I had.

'Well, my search history is surely not a problem, I wondered what they mean by your life flashing across your eyes. I guess this is it.' Quite a few thoughts were going through his head, some strange for a dying man.

'I wonder if there's an after life or some shit like that, because I've come to realize that dying is quite boring'. Indeed, the process of dying was boring to this guy. While anyone else would think that dying is very sad, for some at least.

'The reason he was bored was because in the process his processing speed increased significantly, that was the reason why people who have been through life threatening experiences say that they could see everything slower than it actually was.

'So currently, our protagonist's mind was processing so fast that he came to the conclusion that he is bored, after the conclusion that he was going to die. 'I don't know why, but instead of memories of my parents being emphasized like I thought, it is instead the folklore that my name originated.' Yes indeed, that was something that would be explained to him later though.

'I can see these people around me, but it's like I can mute them, let me see what they are saying'. With that he just heard the sounds coming back to him. He just did something impossible normally, but because of his mind no working at full capacity he could do such things.

As he began to listen he could see a person walk up to him from the crowd, that person was an old man with black rimmed glasses sporting an long coat. He bent down beside the young man and could see his eyes following him, if it was someone else they would probably freak out and retreat but this man was calm.

"Young man, I don't know if you can speak but it's best if you don't" Of course it's best if he didn't, the guy was dying, breathing would have killed him already if he could still feel pain. Giving the young man a few seconds, which was longer that that to Anansi, he continued to speak.

Apparently the old man had met Anansi before, he was always in the bus that he would take to school. "Young man, to put it bluntly, you are not going to survive, but I've met you before so I think you already understand that"

While the guy was comforting Anansi, the other people had been whispering stopped for a few seconds after listening to the man's words. They then began to whisper more actively.

The man said a few things to Anansi before moving away, Anansi was quite glad that someone would probably remember him, because to be honest the only reason he came to terms with his death so fast was due to him not having anything nor anyone to worry about.

He then returned to thinking about what would happen after dying. 'I wonder if-'. That was the last thing he thought before being pulled into slumber.

*****

In a vast space that should be empty,

lights of all kinds were able to be seen in the distance. The gates of the underworld could be seen off in the distance, The path to eternal rest was somewhat off to the left a few balls of lite going towards their and disappearing, and thousands of other balls of light appearing every second.

This was quite normal to be honest, then a particular light appeared within the thousands appearing each second, yes this was our protagonist, a ball of light, a grey one to be exact. It's not like the guy did anything significant in his life.

So while some other lights signified their actions committed in their lifetime, white meaning a person helped a lot of people in life, or just indirectly improving the lives of people via businesses etc. A few red lights here and there, they either killed people or break the rules recognized by the world consciousness of their world.

While some like our protagonist was grey, they were a bit sparse because as much as people would think that they helped no one in life, they don't actually see things from others point of view so they don't know how many people they've helped indirectly or unintentionally.

The consciousnesses all start moving after a certain time of arriving, like there was some sort of voice or alarm in their head, which was correct.

Some went on to eternal rest, others to the gates far of into the the distance, and some who couldn't accept the situation were torn apart into light particles, melding with the light present in the sky, beyond which none of the lights were able to see.

* * * * *

Anansi was currently having a peaceful sleep when he was jolted awake by some unknown force. It wasn't painful, just uncomfortable enough for him to not like it. After opening his 'eyes' he was unexpectedly not surprised, the reason being that he was currently processing Information given to him by something unknown.

'So this is the after life'. He currently couldn't speak for obvious reasons, so he began moving at the best pace he could. He currently was a soul and was to choose (well not really choose)where to go. Apparently the only choice he had was to reincarnated according to the info he had.

'It seems like us grey souls termed 'lifeless' by some unknown entity were unable to rest eternally or even experience the underworld', on which no information was given other than you have to break the rules of a world multiple times, preferably severe ones to go there.

'Apparently a heaven of some sorts exist but it is really scarce to find someone eligible for that place' The information he had said that in reincarnating, his life experiences and significant memories plus a lot of other complicated factors affect the world reincarnated into, as well as your starting point among other things.

...

While moving dreadfully slow towards a grey portal shaped light, he could see others disappear into the light while on his way here but coming closer he could see that it was much larger than he perceived at the starting point.

Anyways he could not stand the boredom. Because on his way here he analyzed the information given he understood that he would just be disintegrated if he mulled over it too much.

So with a little fear in his currently non-existent heart he took a 'step' into the grey light.

This was the start of a not so grand Adventure of Anansi-

More exhausting than I thought it would be, but still exhilarating
