Reincarnated as the Main Character

Azure Lotus was a game infamous for its extreme difficulty that made even the most determined of gamers raise the white flag. It was a game with a complex but stereotypical world and nearly infinite paths that could be followed. It had been released for over three years and yet not a single person had finished the story, no that wasn’t right. They hadn’t even managed to start the main story. It was a hell difficulty game that nobody besides the developers understood. In this world, a man was reborn as the main character.

Chapter 15

"Well, they'll never make the connection at least." Lucille spoke wryly, an amused grin on her face as she looked at Dion's 'new' look. She was slightly surprised that he could create such a flawless disguise on his first try but she was quickly learning to expect such things from him.

He was an A+ ranked warrior at 18 years old, something that most of the other five heroes of old couldn't have done. Yes, technology had improved during the five decades since then which made things easier but nothing was a better motivator than war.

Their generation was much stronger than the current generation that only knew peace. The overall ranking of the awakened may have increased since her time but the power level between the two still tilted favorably toward her generation.

Yet Dion breached the gap between peace and war and even surpassed the strongest of her generation. It was a miracle that only she surpassed at the current moment though she was a bit of an anomaly as the former Saintess of Thenia.

"I would hope not." Dion spoke calmly, his once serene and soothing voice now deep, guttural, and sharp. It felt as though he was a wild beast waiting for unfortunate prey to step in his range for him to pounce on.

His very atmosphere was incomparable to his true appearance and his appearance's apparent age added to that. While Dion was eighteen years old the form he had taken seemed to be in his late twenties at least.

Grabbing a pair of clothes from the table he placed it in his storage tool which possessed just enough space for his weapon and the clothes. Quickly replacing his current nearly stretched out outfit with the outfit in his storage tool he was in a completely different outfit.

It was a skin tight body suit that hugged his large muscles tight and didn't hide much of his special areas, at least it wouldn't have if he didn't take special care to remove it. It would throw off his balance slightly but he would adapt quickly.

"Tch." Making her displeasure clear Lucille clicked her tongue in annoyance, a small pout on her face as she turned away. It wasn't perverted, it was her wanting to have more teasing ammo! Besides, everyone would be a little curious.

Injecting his mana into the outfit it changed like his body did mere moments prior until it finally took a complete shape. With a collar reaching his neck and its end reaching well past his knees he was covered in a deep black trenchcoat.

His coat was a soft golden brown on the front with an elegant design while the sides and back were the same deep black. The inner side of his coat was a deep maroon and the black edges around his shoulders were accompanied by a pale violet river like pattern.

His pants were the most simple of the outfit merely being light grey dress pants that almost anyone could wear. Overall, it was an extremely 'edgy' outfit but it was a purposeful design that meshed well with his feral attraction and deep voice.

"I didn't know you were so good at picking outfits." Lucille praised him sincerely, taking her time to look over his figure. It was an extremely detailed outfit that wouldn't appear out of place in a gathering of nobility.

"I'm not. Somebody chose it for me." Dion explained bluntly, his voice coming off more terrifyingly seductive than usual. It was a different type of beauty than his true appearance but what made him seem more attractive than usual was his bearing.

His calm nature made him appear to be a sheathed blade merely waiting to be drawn while in his true appearance, it merely made him sound like a wise and worldly scholar who had seen much and lived through more.

Neither was above the other, rather they were about equal in terms of looks. It truly depended on the preferences of the beholder. Though it did help that his current appearance was older which gave it a more 'mature' appearance.

"Is that so?" Lucille said in interest, specifically she was interested in who this somebody was as she had never heard him speak of them before. Then again, she hadn't known him for all that long so that was to be expected.

Silence overwhelmed the two as Dion moved throughout the storage room, briefly reading the descriptions of whatever item received his fancy even if it was only for a moment. They had plenty of time and neither was in a rush so the silence lasted for quite a while.

In the end, Dion chose a grand total of three items minus the clothing and bracelet he 'borrowed'. The three items were simple in reality, none being particularly outstanding by themselves.

All he had taken from the treasury was a necklace, a sword, and a potion that would cure all wounds he may sustain though there was a low chance of such a thing happening. While what he was doing was slightly dangerous, there was no real risk associated with it.

"I get the attribute changing necklace but why did you pick that sword? There are plenty stronger ones." Lucille questioned curiously with no real intention to change his mind. Whatever he chose was his own choice, she could give suggestions and advice but ultimately the choice was his.

The necklace was an obvious choice, it further reduced the chance of the association between Dion Aster and whatever name he chose to go by. It did triple the cost of magic and make it much harder to control but from what Dimitri reported she believed he would be fine.

The sword though made no sense to her. It was a high quality sword, it was why it was there, but it had no real outstanding features. It was known as the Moonlight Sonata and despite its elegant name it was a larger than the average broadsword and was an eerie shade of black.

"It fits my aesthetic." Dion explained bluntly, uncaring for her stifled laughter. While that was a large part of the reason he chose it as his weapon of choice it wasn't the only reason. In the end, it was merely the resemblance to his former weapon that caused him to choose it.

"Haha! Well, I guess the choice is yours!" Lucille spoke between horribly stifled laughter, a grin of amusement on her face. It was times like these, the simple time when two people simply spend time together, that people learned the most about one another.

Never would she have guessed that the eloquent and regal Dion Aster would have had such an amusing reason to chose his weapon, never would she have assumed he could worry about such simple things, and never could she imagine that he was more mysterious than he already appeared to be.

While she did look on Dion favorably it was undoubtable that he was a strange man. An unknown past, a mana level thought impossible for commoners, talent that not even the six heroes could rival, and experience that seemed to appear from thin air.

Even if she were to ignore his sudden increase in ability from the entrance exam to the first day she had more than enough reason to suspect him. What she was suspecting him for was unknown at the moment but she was suspicious nonetheless.

She could tell, or perhaps she hoped, that he was a good man who merely kept to himself however her role as the principal of Lux required that she be suspicious of him. No matter how much she liked him personally, she must be suspicious of him.

Unless he could prove his innocence, she had to be suspicious of him no matter how much she didn't want to. She didn't want to doubt those close to her, to move around behind their backs, however, she could tell that Dion wouldn't answer her if she just asked. Not yet at least.

So until he does, she'll doubt every word he says.
