Reincarnated as a Human after living 1,000 Years as an Elf!

This is a story about a girl who is reincarnated as a human after having a long life as an elf. We join her on her journey as she learns about how humans live and has to restart a life in a loving family in a small town as one of the most powerful being in the prime plane. Let's see how she makes friends and develops bonds with others that she's never experienced before. There will be yuri romance in the future and a good amount of action. The story will go from her birth and follow her as she grows up. --- Please note that this is my first time trying to write a novel. I do have dyslexia so I'm sure there will be mistakes, especially where I have just mixed up words and used the completely wrong one. This world is also a world I started making for a D&D campaign so you may see some references here and there. I'm open to all kinds of criticism and feedback. Just hearing about your thoughts and feeling about something I wrote makes me happy.

My Rebirth

'So this is what the spirit world's like.' I could feel a warm comfort as it felt like I was floating in water. I tried to move or open my eyes but there were soft walls around me and I could see nothing but a warm orange glow. I closed my eyes and focused on the spirits around me. The spirit arts are perfect for searching your surroundings.

'That's weird. Why are there humans all around? Hold on! This isn't the spirit world, this is the prime plane and this isn't Ixira.' The information from the spirit was beneficial but also troubling.

I could tell that there was 2 human very close and dozens more within a 100m radius. I could also tell that no one was harbouring malice or killing intent. Another important thing I learned was that no one had the ability to use the spirit arts.

So if I wasn't in the spirit world but still on the prime plane there is only one thing that could have happened… I've been reincarnated. Which only answers a couple of questions but creates many more.

It explains where I am and why it seems I don't have a mana core plus it seems that I have a good amount of time to gather more information before I'm born, 3 months from what I can gather. I could tell my mother was in good health and about 6 months into her pregnancy.

The big question is why I was reincarnated, the spirit arts I used were of master tier and my soul should have ended up in the spirit world and not in the body of some random unborn human. I can only assume I made a mistake in my spell or someone more powerful than me manipulated my soul, the latter is far more likely. I was confident in my perfect manipulation of the spirit arts.

It's not like I can do anything about it now, time to relax, meditate and take in all the information my spirit arts can gather.

First of all, I need to know if I'm in any danger and how capable the humans in this settlement are. This is simple enough, I expanded my search to cover a 1km radius and found only 5 people who have any kind of power, although not enough to remotely pose a threat to me once I'm born. There seem to be around 500 humanoids living in this small town. The majority are human but there are a dozen or so beast-kin, 2 full elves and 5 half-elves. That's interesting back in Ixira there wasn't the mixing of races so within the whole city there was not a single half-elf or human. Another interesting point is that there aren't any dwarves or demon kind here, which perplexes me a little as the humans here seem to have accepted living with beast-kin and elves. Something to look into after I've grown more.

The next thing I notice is that all the adolescents and older humanoids had mana cores. the interesting thing is that almost all of them were at tier 1 with only 3 people having tier 2. I found this very odd as everyone in Ixira reached tier 2 before becoming an adult and the majority of the populous had at least tier 3. This means that no one here can cast higher than a level 5 spell as you can only cast spells equal to your mana core tier doubles plus 1. This means that tier 1 can cast up to level 3, tier 2 to level 5, tier 3 to level 7, tier 4 to level 9 and tier 5 which only myself and a handful of others in Ixira reach to cast level 10 and above magic.

This also suggests that magical tools aren't commonly used here as mana stones are hard to make and the magic beasts you can get them from are hard to kill. There are a couple of reasons why the level of magicology here is so low. The first is that this settlement is isolated and information from elsewhere doesn't find its way here or the more likely reason is that most of this nation is at this level of magicology. If the latter is the case then I have to wonder what the history of this nation entails as I see no reason why their growth is so stagnant and why they haven't progressed past tier 2.

Another thing is that only one person in the whole settlement is using this affinity with the spirits and has awoken their spirit arts. I'm not really surprised that this person is one of the elves, as elves have a high natural affinity with spirits and nature. This elf also is one of the 3 with a tier 2 core. Makes me question whether they can sense my search as it's not like I was attempting to hide my arts. Well, there isn't much more I'm going to be able to do for now so guess I just have to wait.

---

The time passed quickly and I'm sure my birth will be happening any day now. A few things I've noticed in the past 3 months, the first is that only 2 humans live in this house, my guess is my mother and father. I found this very odd, as in Ixira polygamy was the most common relationship by far. Also as elves lived for a lot longer than humans we normally had large estates with multiple generations of family living together. It appears that monogamy is how all of the relationships in this settlement are. I will need to find out whether that is only for here or all of this nation, as I cannot imagine only having one partner, and it seems that almost all of their relationships are heterosexual. Both are going to be an issue for me. In my last life, I lived with multiple partners at all times. The majority were other women however I'm bi so something it's nice to have a little of both.

'Ahh, I guess it's time.' I felt all of the comfy water that has been my home for the last 3 months flow out from around me. 'Well, I suppose I shouldn't make it hard for my mother.' Using my spirit arts I started to manipulate my mothers' energy to numb her pain as well as move myself towards my exit. I could feel my mother relax as the pain eased which allowed me to swiftly push myself out into the soft arms of whoever was there is catch me.

I was quickly washed in a basin of water then I opened my eyes and looked around the room. There were 2 humans and 1 beast-kin all looking at me. I was quickly wrapped in cloth by the beast-kin. The look on her face was surprise and relief. She spoke softly and I couldn't quite make it out as I was passed to my mother, who was laying up on a big bed with a man standing next to her with his hand on her shoulder. The look on their faces as they looked down at me was nothing I have ever seen before, they both had massive goofy smiles plastered across their faces. They both stared at me and then looked at each other as the beast-kin spoke.

"Congratulations, on having a healthy baby girl. She was also my quickest childbirth to date."

"Thank you for all your help Elise, having you here helped a lot." My mother replied she had such a soothing and loving tone to her voice. I could feel myself relax just from hearing her.

"I will clean up and leave you two with your new family member. I will check in with you both later and please get some rest, Chris." With that, the beast-kin left.

"You ready are the cutest little thing." My mother said using her finger to caress my cheek. The warmth that welled up inside me was unlike anything I'd felt in my last 1,000 years.

"Darling, are you okay with the name Alison?" My mother said softly as my father moved closer rubbing his finger across my little hands.

"Yes, of course, it feels like the perfect name."

'Alison huh... I like it.'

Please let me know if there are any mistakes or if you have any criticisms.
