Life of Bo

I spent a couple more days walking around Aldera. The people lived in prosperity and peace. The crime was essentially non-existent. The only criminals I ever saw were non-natives. I was a little impressed with the security forces of the planet too.

Even though the planet is in a state of perpetual peace, the security forces are not as incompetent when compared to other planets.

As for my journey in understanding the Light Side of the Force; well, I actually stopped my foot from landing on an ant. I think that's a good start.

My attention was attracted when I received a direct commission. The commission was an escort and the pay is a whopping 100 credits. I scoffed that someone thought they could hire me for a 100 credits. I look to see who the client is and read off, "Bo..."

I start laughing, "Bo...what is this old man's game. I'll bite." I accept the commission.

The nest day, I meet up with Bo who is on a private speeder pad. While cloaked, I alert him that I am here, "I am here Bo."

Bo smiles, "Hello Bido, thanks for accepting this old man's request."

I ask, "What are the full details Bo?"

Bo explains, "The mission to escort me as I go around Alderaan doing some work."

I look around and don't see a speeder around. I inquire, "Isn't a speeder required for that. Seeing as we are on a speeder pad with no speeder, are you expecting a driver to come."

Bo shakes his head and grins, "No driver is coming and I do need a speeder. I was hoping you could procure some transportation for me."

My click my mandibles and groan a little, "Fine Bo, a speeder will be here within half an hour."

I then communicate to one of the androids in Aldera to buy a good speeder and connect it to my system. The android took 20 minutes to buy one and connect to my system. I remotely controlled it to come to our speeder pad. I bought a practical speeder, something that can work even in jagged terrain. It doesn't look the nicest, but I feel like Bo will be taking me places.

The speeder pulls up and I say, "It is here. Now where are we going?"

Bo gets in the back as he says, "We're going to a farm some ways from Aldera. There is a sick child there. I need to go there."

I invisibly get into the driver seat of the speeder. The android picked a speeder that also had dark-tinted windows, so no risk of someone seeing anything. All should just assume it is on auto-drive.

I start the speeder in the direction of the farm. I ask Bo, "If the child is sick, does this mean you have some medical capabilities?"

Bo just smiles and doesn't answer. He's having fun with this. The farm was indeed some ways away. It took a few hours to get there. When we arrived, it was past noon. Bo got out and walked to the humble farmhouse. The door opened to reveal a man and woman. Probably the couple of the sick kid. I followed behind unnoticeably.

We came to the room of a small girl, no older than 10. She looked about a breath from death. I used my bio-helmet to scan her body to figure out her illness. She had a sort of genetic cancer. Back in the old wars, Alderaan was a planet that saw many battles between Sith and Jedi. Chemical weapons were even used on the planet. People who were exposed and survived would develop genetic illnesses later on. A sort of cancer that would always return because of a dominant mutated gene is one of them. The gene in question is too essential to life to remove. Usually, another essential gene would overpower it, but in cases it doesn't, relentless cancer occurs. This is what this little girl has, relentless cancer. In this galaxy, cancer is wholly curable. This sort of cancer is an exception though.

Bo goes into the room and puts a gentle hand on the girl. I then feel the Force flow through Bo. I am a little surprised. I didn't expect Bo to be a Force user. I have no suspicion he is a Jedi though. He doesn't act like one. I focus to see what ability he is using. I frown when I find out he is using life siphon to heal the girl. What a crazy old man. Better not die on me on the way back.

When he was done, I took another scan of the girl. The mutated gene was...un-mutated. The cancer was eliminated from the body. The girl was cured with no chance at relapse. The parent thanked Bo sincerely. I noticed that Bo didn't take any payment either. I was getting a bad feeling.

We returned to the speeder. Once we were both inside, I ask him, "You used life siphon Bo. At your old age, are you trying to die?"

Bo laughs, "I am indeed old. That is why I am using life siphon. It is the most powerful healing ability I can do. I only have a handful of years left in me, so why not use what vitality I have left to give some kids a chance?"

I scowl, "It sounds to me that you'll be dead by the time this escort mission is done old man."

Bo sighs, "Well, I think I'll be very close at the least. No questions about me being a Jedi though?"

I answer, "No, you are no Jedi. You are better Bo."

Bo laughs, "thank you for the compliment. I don't think I'm much better. Some may even say I'm selfish."

I scoff, "Who could say you're selfish?"

Bo shrugs, "Well, I used to be a Jedi. I left the Order because I couldn't bring myself to take a life with my lightsaber. I disliked using the Force offensively too. I couldn't sacrifice my clean hands or moralities to do things necessary for peace. That is what makes me selfish as some may say."

I growl, "Those that think along those lines will be the self-righteous. The people that like to smell their own farts. Your ways are much more in line with what the original Jedi tried to be so long ago."

Bo laughs heartedly, "Smell their own farts, that is funny. As for the old Jedi ways, I never really studied any history from the archives. I wouldn't know what their aspirations were. I'll take your word for it though, hehe."

Bo gives me the next destination, Belleau-a-Lir. A city known for being an artistic and cultural center. We went to a small apartment in the city. This time it was little boy. The story goes, the boy found a weird object while exploring an old part of the city. He came upon a small pod, and touched it. It was a viral pod from the old wars. Luckily, the sort of viral pod he touched was a failed product. The virus inside doesn't spread. The unlucky part is that the virus was made with Sith alchemy. City officials were alerted and swept the whole area for more viral pods from the old wars. They actually found two more.

Bo used life siphon to have enough power to destroy the virus and cure the boy.

The next destination is actually the University of Alderaan. Apparently a young student got himself sick from a bad experiment. He was handling a modified bacteria to take it for testing. The point of the bacteria was to act as a virus eater. It hadn't been tested yet, so no one actually knew if it would do what is was designed for. The poor student became a human test, now the bacteria is eating the proteins of his body wantonly.

Bo fixed the kid up, but as Bo entered the speeder I could see he was done. I ask him, "You look done Bo, you've exhausted mostly everything. I can feel it. You only have maybe a few months now at most."

Bo shakily says, "No, there is one more place we need to go."

I stay silent and go to our next destination. A small house in Aldera. Bo walks into the house. Within is a new couple it looks like. Bo makes his way over to a baby crib. The newborn baby is weak, not because of any illness or anything either. The baby is simply born too weak, and won't last too much longer. The hospital let them come home with the baby only because there was nothing they could do. The parents had resigned themselves to only having a few days with their child.

I hear Bo mutter something, "I will give you the strength you are missing." Bo uses life siphon to vitalize the baby. The baby gains color and looks much more vigorous than before.

We go back to the speeder. I say to Bo, "You're going to die today Bo. You won't live to see the new sunrise."

Bo smiles lightly, "I know that Bido. Take me home, I should at least make sure my family can take care of my remains."

I ask, "You have a family Bo?"

Bo tells, "Yes, I am actually somewhat of a nobleman if you would believe it. I have 6 children too. Four boys and two girls. All of which are married and have given me plenty of grandchildren. My grandchild Jasarna is even in the Jedi Order as a youngling right now. I only gave you the name of Bo before, but I Bo Frosyuul. My house isn't well know or anything, so you probably haven't heard of it. We aren't Organas after all."

I say, "Seems like you lived a full live with that many descendants. How old are you Bo?"

Bo thinks for a moment, "I'm a 112 this year. I am one hell of an old man, hehe."

Bo then gets a little serious, "Thanks for this Bido. You helped me do some good at the end. Also, one last little lesson before I go. The Dark Side takes credit for being all about death. That it gives out death like flyers. The Dark Side isn't about Death. The Dark Side fears death, death is the enemy of the Dark Side. The Dark Side truly deals in life, not death. The Light Side is what deals with death. It's why, when someone is dying and is scared, one would say them, 'Just go to the light, follow the light.'"

I thought about Bo's words, they're pretty accurate. Then I realize that Bo isn't moving or talking. I look back, and he's fallen asleep.

I say, "Goodnight Bo, follow the light."

I drive all the way to the Frosyuul estate. The estate gate is open, so I drive in. The steps to the mansion door have what I can assume to be all of Bo's family on it. It seems Bo sent out some sort of message. Bo is lucky to be welcomed back by so many people, and mourned.

I uncloak, as I get out of my seat. The family reels back a bit as I am intimidating. I just go to the backseat passenger door and get Bo out. I carry him in my arms and walk to the family.

An old woman comes out from the mansion. She says with some anger, "Stupid old fool, going and dying. What a stupid brother." She then starts crying.

A man in his 50's comes over, but he is fit and strong for his age. He gestures to give Bo over to his arms. I transfer Bo over. The man asks me, "What did he do to die with such a smile on his face bounty hunter?"

I say, "He saved four lives. Then said some philosophical stuff and fell asleep."

The man nods, "Ya, he is the type to fall asleep and then die, hehe. That's good, he always said he'll use the last years of his life well. I'm glad he did. He always saying some philosophical shit too, haha." The man then gets wet eyes.

I speak up, "My commission with Bo is now over. I bid you all farewell, and I'm sorry for your loss. Bo was good."

I then leave as the family watches me get in the speeder and drive.

Driving away I mutter, "Old Bo, this fucked up galaxy didn't deserve you. Rest well."

Thanks for reading, I'm back. Normal updates will return.

RIP Bo.
