Pokemon Prime - Pursuit of Strength

'Acknowledge that you are working towards your goal. Results don't come immediately.

Its been a while since I heard that quote somewhere.

Can't say I disagree with results.

Its just that I always felt the quote was missing something.

What is there to do if your goal is far away.

I asked a friend, and he said.

There is something you get from trying anyway, at least you can learn in the end that it may have been for nothing. Everything is better in hindsight, instead of worrying about useless things, its best to keep your eyes looking forward.

… I can do at least that much.'

Another day of work comes to an end. After saying goodbye to a coworker Booth leaves an uneventful day on the water. With his shift at the marina over, he makes his way home to play some pokemon.

Booth reaches his apartment and falls into his chair. Although his shifts at work are long, they give plenty of time to think of his hobbies. And nothing occupies his mind as much as pokemon.

He turns on his game, playing some matches online for an hour or so. He wins most, and loses a few to some tricky situations. The victories are sweet, but with each battle Booth feels that he isn't learning as much from the game. He has surely improved, but the kind of battles he wants requires tougher opponents and a higher level of skill. The skill of a player in the current game of Pokemon often seems like more of a test of game knowledge rather than skill.

Booth worked pretty late today, so he decides to call it a day and go to bed. 

'A pokemon game that I can find new improvement with. That would be exciting.' Booth laughs at the thought. 'Until then I'll just have to master the current game.'

Booth slowly falls asleep, when he wakes he finds the answer to his wish, far away.
