Chapter 1Prologue

...

..

.

What am I... Doing here...?

That's right... I rushed in to save that kid from getting himself killed...

Looks like I was captured in return. Well damn.

My arms are sore... Something's clamped down on my wrists... Chains? Well, whoever thought to do this should have paralyzed me too. Seriously, chaining someone who crumpled a tank with a punch?

I pulled on the chains. Huh. I guess they weren't out of their minds when they used these. These are actually fairly strong. Not strong enough, unfortunately.

I tugged, now using a bit of force. My left hand's free. Perfect.

I used the wall as a platform, boosting myself forward, the chains preventing my legs from their usual range of motion snapping like thin coiled paper.

Then I did what any sensible man would do. I ripped the chains off from my right arm and headbutted the already cracked wall that was formerly behind me. Nothing but a dark room, now with light.

I could see bright city lights beneath me, no, an airport? Hmm... A private military force did this then? I suppose that would make sense.

I leapt down from where my prison was, around twenty stories up. I could hear alarm sirens blaring, guns being readied, all pointing towards me.

Spell circles flared at the muzzles of their guns, those without firearms drew an assortment of weapons, mainly spears.

Behind them hundreds of spell circles, the smallest ones being the size of basketballs pointed straight at me. Hmph, that's more like it!

"Mind explaining what this is supposed to be?" I placed my hand on my left hip, putting my weight on that side. "As far as I can recall, I was merely enjoying a light afternoon snack before the cafe I was in exploded."

Considering the fact that they all flinched, it could mean several things, but for now, I need to keep my guard up.

"You killed over fifty of our sixty elites! And even when you were unconscious, you kept fighting to defend yourself, killing another one of our elites!" A woman from the backlines shouted. I killed over fifty? Damn, I thought I killed all of them.

I shrugged and took my stance, left side in front, right hand down below my left hand, just half an inch above my crotch. My left raised, elbow bent, diagonally pointing upward.

Knees slightly bent, they bent further, as I was about to lunge at the closest man before me, I heard the words "Stop!" in an authorative tone. So the boss is here.

A man in his mid fifties came walking, hand on the broadsword strapped behind his waist. He stared at me for a few moments before sighing, his blue blazer falling off of his shoulders.

I recognized the man. Aubest Raldoy, age 78, preferred weapons are an uzi and the broadsword named 'Destrier'.

"Dominic Raicleach, age 26. Weapon of choice, guandao, he hates it when it isn't called it's proper name, which is yanyuedao. Said weapon was named 'Dragon's Wrath' by those who faced it and lived, if only for a short while longer. Hand-to-hand combat is something to be avoided as his skill in it is near unparalled."

He stopped for a short while, drawing his broadsword.

"Also known as the 'Empress' Fangs', as he is the man who does the most difficult of his sister's orders, the 'Bloody Empress' herself." All of the soldiers and mages behind him were visibly shaken. "The strongest combat mage alive, as well as the man who is presumably, the most skilled melee fighter we have today."

He finished, a sharp glint flashed along his eyes for a moment before his head fell.

Once the men behind him realised what had happened they tensed, but not before a couple dozen of them were bisected.

I raised my left leg up, curling my abdomen. A kick hit my shin and I countered with a jab to the unknown assailant's temple.

"So. Poison gas. Huh, not bad." It took me awhile to realize why the old man was stalling, but I suppose I shouldn't have hoped for a peaceful outcome. I did kill nearly all of their elites.

I threw a reverse heel kick behind me, nailing the dazed woman I had jabbed beforehand. Punctured lungs because of your ribs aren't a good way to go, well, at least she died fighting.

I took a step to my left and bent my back, a small axe flying over where my head used to be.

I looked at the four newcomers. The remaining elites, I suppose. I caught a little something aimed between my eyebrows. A bullet. So a sniper, then?

And then the shooting started.

I leapt into their midst, a translucent, white yanyuedao on my hands. A green ball landed beside me, an attack helicopter flying overhead. I leapt backwards and into a group of soldiers, a trail of machine gun fire trailing right after me. Worse, they were enchanted. And the ball turned out to be an explosive of sort. A cluster bomb I think?

I continued leaping from group to group, missiles and rockets being fired at me, aside from your everyday fireball or some other spell.

After what I think was the 89th group, I fired a fireball half the size of a truck at two helicopters that ended up positioning themselves a bit too close in my opinion.

The crimson spell circle flared to life, a massive spinning ball of fire forming at it's front.

"Die."

And with that word, it shot out, slightly faster than mach 2, slamming into one helicopter's side. It detonated, taking the other with it, frying a part of another. Three down, one to go.

I bent my body, the glint of a sniper's scope obvious as I was facing it. It missed, nailing a man behind me right in the skull.

I twirled my weapon, bisecting an onrushing group, then spinning it behind me with both my hands after I straightened my back. That action blocked if not deflected a few rounds.

They continued firing, but it was no use. I had leapt behind a tank near me, cutting the driver's portion in the process. The gunner's still alive.

A grenade was thrown at me, I kicked it up. It landed inside the tank as it's hatch opened. I leapt away, a sword finding it's way to my thigh. One of their elites? Well, he isn't bad then!

A rather shallow gash opened on my left thigh, but it was useless, I had been covered in all manner of injuries right from the start.

I thrust my yanyuedao at the man's neck at speeds I doubt he could even see. I moved it to the right, cutting a mace in half, then I stepped forward, grabbing it's shaft and spinning, killing two more men before skewering the last elite they had.

This continued for around half an hour. Clearly, I couldn't protect myself from all their attacks, as by the end of it, I had a bit of frost in my hair, burns all over my chest and a few bullet wounds in my back. That doesn't even mention the cuts all over and the bruises I had on my legs.

I had wiped out most of them.

I stood up, facing the men and women before me. No, they were not mere men and women. They were warriors, warriors of the organization known as The Stable.

"All of you, warriors before me. You have proven your loyalty, to your friends, to your organization, to The Stable. Most of you have been slain, will you not avenge them?!"

My message was clear, I wanted them to come at me. And they did just that. Battle cries resonated throughout this base we turned into a battlefield. I had killed their four snipers earlier with magic, most of their ammunition used up, they charged at me with their fists, pipes, swords, knives, all manner of weapons.

I grinned. If I die, might as well take down one of my dear sister's most powerful enemies, right?

Crimson lightning the color of my eyes coiled around me as I took one step forward. Another, faster. Then once more, stronger. Then another, faster. Stronger. Then the last.

In a spinning sweep, a blade of red and white, my yanyuedao turned into a translucent bastard sword.

They had fallen, none of them survived my last attack. None except one, an old man. The Stable's 'hidden expert'.

The reason why it was so big a threat.

"So, you finally showed up... Old man." A light smile spread across my face as I leaned on my sword for support.

He chuckled, drawing two sai from his belt, he took his stance, the tension in the air rising. This is it. I doubt I'd get past this alive, but... Heh. Look at me, a damned sis-con having a hell of a death.

I raised my sword in a stance, knees bent left side forward, sword diagonally aiming upward at my foe, hands near my waist. It is time.

And again, I took a step forward. He did the same. A few explosions rang out in the background, and our weapons clashed.

My final battle begins.

GlaringError here! As I have already mentioned in my author review I am restating it here since I am getting tons of comments about it, that I am more of a reader myself than a writer, I made this novel in an attempt to capture my fantasy world residing in my mind into words.. Writing is new for me.. The premise of my novel is inspired by many great works that I have loved over the years. And some elements I have in my novel that are slightly similar to them but it's just the skeleton of it, the real meat of the plot is entirely my own cooking. Some of the influence that is more noticeable is from The Runesmith (By Kuropon), The King's Avatar (By Butterfly Blue) and Shadow Slave (By Guiltythree). I have immense respect for these legends and I can only hope to follow in their footsteps. To all those who comment just by judging the name, at least give it a chance before letting your opinions be known. Thank you.
